Personality History Powers Relationships Possessions Although he appears intimidating (at times), Hyunwoo is very childish and friendly, having an optimistic view over life. He's the type of person to crack jokes and making people feel better during dull times. Hyunwoo hates to see his friends sad, so he'll do everything in his willpower to lift their spirits. Hyunwoo has a hard time sitting still or paying attention at times, often getting distracted. He wants to do everything all at once, fidgets, or even speak out of turn. He tries to stop himself, but he seems to have no control over it, as if it takes over him. So, Hyunwoo tries his hardest by distracting himself, whether it's reading, playing his guitar, or singing to himself, it seems to help. If he's ever feeling sad, Hyunwoo would sit in his room and read or play his guitar. He has a fear of singing in front of people because he thinks he's a bad singer. So, if someone hears Hyunwoo sing, Hyunwoo will become embarrassed and hide. If he becomes overwhelmed, he'd run away, going to a quiet and safe place to clear his mind. Once meeting Oh Min'gyu, he has become the closest thing he has for a brother, Hyunwoo being the brotherly figure to the boy. His duty was to protect him and keep him company, which he enjoys doing. Hyunwoo enjoys protecting others, keeping them safe. He especially enjoys rambling about the gods and goddesses, devoting himself to them. Since Hyunwoo was adopted, he constantly searches for answers about his birth family and why they left him, but since he was adopted by demigod descendants, they taught Hyunwoo about the gods and goddesses, which is why he loves them so much. But since they were shot and killed, not only is Hyunwoo searching for answers for his birth parents, but is in constant searching for the man who killed his only family he had left, but he doesn't let that search control him. Like some couples, a man and a woman have sex at an early age and often end up with a child they never asked for. This is one of them. Eoh Jieun and Tae Kyung-chol, a Korean couple living in Vancouver, Canada, decided to experiment one day. Now, the couple were 19 years old, so it was normal, but what happened was a few months later, Jieun ended up pregnant. The couple didn’t want this. They didn’t want a child, but instead of getting an abortion, once having the baby, they put the child up for adoption. A married couple of demigod descendants by the names of Hialeah and Matthew Park - Hialeah being Canadian and Matthew being Korean-Canadian - adopted the child and named him Hyunwoo Zacharie Park. At a young age, Hyunwoo was described as rambunctious but kind - to his parents, that is. He was often rude to others, even at school. He didn’t play well with others and liked to do things his way. Hialeah often had trouble with her son and his rambunctious attitude. He never sat still or paid attention. Hyunwoo often questioned his mom and dad about how he doesn’t look exactly like them, but they stayed quiet. When Hyunwoo was enrolled in Elementary school, age 5, many children bullied Hyunwoo for being of Korean origin. Hyunwoo would often come home crying. Since Hyunwoo’s parents were concerned for Hyunwoo, they decided to pack their things and move to Toronto. Once moved in, Hialeah and Matthew became close friends with their neighbor, Miyong Ryuk. Miyong even introduced her son, Levi, to Hyunwoo. Hyunwoo saw Levi was also of Korean descent and didn’t feel so alone. Hyunwoo liked Levi and Levi liked Hyunwoo. Hyunwoo clung to Levi like a leech because he got along well with him. Levi and Hyunwoo were attached at the hip. Levi was kind but hotheaded. He often blew a fuse when something ticked him off, which was rather often, so Hyunwoo had to calm him down. Hyunwoo was often jealous of people who got too close to Levi. At age 10, two Korean-American male twins by the names of Shiloh and Izak T’ae moved to Toronto, Canada in the next neighborhood over who went to the same middle school as Levi and Hyunwoo. Levi saw an opportunity to make some friends, but Hyunwoo didn’t like them at first. Key word being at first. Levi formed a group, a group named Branwens. Since it was Levi’s idea, he was chosen leader. His codename was Corvus, Hyunwoo’s codename was Raven, Shiloh’s codename was Sparrow and Izak’s codename was Ibis. Levi tried to make friends and recruit them, but no avail. They kept this up for 4 years, Levi tried to make the group enjoyable with games, heading into the plaza to get treats, and even having their own symbols to sew on their clothes. It wasn’t until a new kid from Korea moved in where things got exciting. Hyunwoo heard from Levi that his mother wanted him to get to know the new kid. Hyunwoo growled, saying that he didn’t like the kid already. Levi said he was a black haired boy named Oh Min’gyu, but was far too shy to meet him. Hyunwoo smiled, as if he was glad the boy didn’t get close to Levi. Levi planned to mark the park with their symbols tonight with spray paint, saying he’s borrowing some of his mom’s spray paint from the garage. Hyunwoo liked the idea, so he went along with it. Hyunwoo went to get Shiloh and Izak while Levi would get the spray paint. Hyunwoo saw some lights and figures moving from Min’gyu’s house and a man leaving. Since Hyunwoo didn’t care much for the boy, he shrugged it off. Due to it being a Friday night and Shiloh and Izak’s parents got along well with Hyunwoo’s, the twins were allowed to go outside and “play” for the night. Once the twins and Hyunwoo were in the all clear, they made a break for the park, passing by Min’gyu’s house. Levi was waiting by the park, getting a little impatient when they showed up. Levi smirked at the group and dropped a duffle bag full of spray paint. Levi said they would spray paint their symbols on the park, marking it as their territory. Once each member picked out a color and going to spray paint their symbol, a snapping of a twig startled them. A figure made a run for it, but Hyunwoo was hot on his tail. Once approaching close enough, he tackled him to the ground and dragged him back to Levi. The boy began speaking a language Hyunwoo had no understanding of, so he ignored him. Once arriving, Shiloh and Izak stood on either side of a pissed of Levi. Hyunwoo threw him on the ground in front of Levi. Levi barked at him and yelled at him as Hyunwoo stood next to Levi, smirking to himself. Hyunwoo recognized the boy. It was Min’gyu. Min’gyu began speaking in that same language Hyunwoo didn’t understand, but Levi seemed to. His expression grew soft as he crouched down next to Min’gyu, listening to him. Hyunwoo scowled. Levi translated to the group, saying Min’gyu wanted to join and become friends. Shiloh and Izak seemed to like the idea while Hyunwoo scoffed. Levi suggested a codename for Min’gyu. Shiloh suggested Passerine while Izak suggested Crow. Hyunwoo snorted and suggested Intruder as a joke. It backfired. Everyone loved the codename and seemed fitting for the boy. Levi stated since Min’gyu was very fragile, they would treat him kindly. Hyunwoo scoffed, growing a hatred for the boy and how close he was getting to Levi. The more Min’gyu got closer to Levi, the harsher Hyunwoo got. Though unaware what was happening with Min’gyu,, it wasn’t until Min’gyu went up to Hyunwoo. Hyunwoo went to push him away until Min’gyu broke down crying, sobbing how he was teased for being Korean and making fun of his English. Min’gyu just wanted a friend he could relate to and look up to. Hyunwoo realized he and Min’gyu were a lot alike. Hyunwoo felt something spark up inside of him. He could be the one that people can look up to, to make them smile, and to make them feel like the sun is on their side on a rainy day. Hyunwoo decided to be happier than he’s ever been before. And for once, Hyunwoo smiled so wide, he showed his teeth. But it wasn’t until age 15, where Levi and Hyunwoo were in Levi’s home alone, both of them decided to experiment. Since both boys were young, inexperienced, and didn’t know anything about sex, it ended badly. Hyunwoo was upset he felt nothing for Levi, but it was a good thing considering it’ll open doors for the both of them. When seeing Min’gyu that day, his face was as red as a beet. Before even asking questions, he rushed back home. Hyunwoo went to investigate, but Levi stopped him. As they were heading to the nearby café, as Hyunwoo was rambling about the Greek gods, Shiloh and Izak announced they’d be moving next year since their parents found a better job in America. But before anyone could react, Levi began holding his head, crying in pain. Since everyone was concerned for Levi, they asked him what was wrong, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he made a mad dash for home. They boys, obviously concerned, just thought Levi had a migraine and needed to go home. Hyunwoo cheered up the twins by cracking jokes and buying them ice cream. Once arriving home, Hyunwoo got extremely excited that the gods were answering his prayers. If it wasn’t clear already, Hyunwoo was dedicated to the gods and goddesses due to his parents, being demigod descendants and all. Hyunwoo didn’t exactly know the ropes of being a dedicated follower, per se, but his dream was to become a priest to the gods. His parents promised him that he would teach him more about the gods and goddesses. But Hyunwoo asked a question that shocked both of Hialeah and Matthew. He asked about his past, what he was like as a baby. Where he came from. Since he was of age, his parents told him. They told him that he was adopted and that his parents thought he was a mistake. Hyunwoo grew weary, but his parents told him he was the greatest thing that ever happened to him. Throughout the years, Hyunwoo searched constantly for his birth parents, but it all lead to dead ends. Levi taught Hyunwoo Korean to help him communicate with Min’gyu easier, and it all became very clear of Min’gyu’s situations at home. If Levi couldn’t be there for Min’gyu during his panic attacks, Hyunwoo was. Hyunwoo made Min’gyu feel loved and since Hyunwoo’s parents were rather fond of the shy boy, they allowed him to stay over. Hyunwoo would be like a big brother to Min’gyu, building forts in the living room, watching movies and eating all the food in the house. Hyunwoo would often cuddle the skinny boy, making sure he didn’t hurt him. He was often angry at Min’gyu’s mother for treating the boy like trash. He was so skinny, he had many bruises and cuts on his forearms caused by his mother. Hyunwoo just wanted to take Min’gyu and Levi and put them somewhere safe. Hyunwoo would sometimes see weird monsters or so roaming around the plaza and no one noticed. He asked people if they saw the monsters too, but they’d look at him funny and walk away. His parents taught his son guitar at age 9 and he had a great fondness in playing it. Their son also had a wonderful singing voice, but seemed too shy to sing out loud considering he blushed and hid when someone even mentions it. Their son did have a relatively deep voice, but his singing was beautiful. Hyunwoo also had a fondness in archery as he took lessons every Sunday. He didn’t know why, but he felt like this skill would come in handy someday. At age 18, Hyunwoo had the bright idea for the group to get tattoos for Min’gyu’s birthday since all of them were legal. Levi was concerned for Min’gyu since he knew Min’gyu had a fear of needles, Hyunwoo unaware, but agreed. Hyunwoo decided to go first, getting his symbol, a raven tattoo with its wings spread out all over his back. Levi decided to go next, but getting Min’gyu’s symbol instead, under his left collarbone. Min’gyu went last, getting Levi’s symbol under his right collarbone, but wanting to overcome his fear, he wanted another tattoo, so he got a back tattoo that covered the left side of his back and abdomen. Levi was there to hold his hand, he knew how much pain Min’gyu was in and how terrifying it was for him. Once the artist was done with his work, Hyunwoo paid for him and the couple since it was his treat. As they were walking home, Hyunwoo asked Levi why he was in pain back at the parlor. Levi responded by saying he, “shared a physical sensation” with Min’gyu. Hyunwoo was obviously confused, but it must’ve been a pretty big secret considering Levi said, “don’t tell Min’gyu”. As Hyunwoo opened his mouth to say something, Min’gyu took Hyunwoo’s hand by surprise and dragged him to the ice cream shoppe that was in the plaza. Hyunwoo paid, of course, since it was Min’gyu’s birthday. By then, Hyunwoo long forgotten about the “secret” Levi told him. Unfortunately, Hyunwoo’s bliss stopped short when he came home to find his parents dead on the floor, bullet wounds in their heads. Falling to his knees with a pounding head, he cried. He cried hard and loudly. Min’gyu and Levi heard Hyunwoo’s cries and rushed to the scene. As the two processed the scene in front of them, Levi called the police while Min’gyu dragged a broken down Hyunwoo. In between sobs, he cried; “I’m suppose to be the one comforting you, not the other way around, Min’gyu-ah! I’m the h-hyung!” But Min’gyu shook his head, wrapping his arms around Hyunwoo’s frame, responding, “I know, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help my hyung during his darkest times. You’ve always been there for me, so I’m returning the favor and being there for you. Besides, would I be a good dongsaeng if I just let my hyung suffer?” It was Hyunwoo’s turn to wrap his arms around Min’gyu, sobbing in the boy’s shoulder. Since Hyunwoo had barely enough money to get by, Miyong suggested Hyunwoo to live with her. Hyunwoo went to object, but he realized it was the right thing to do. He was tired, he hadn’t eaten for a whole week since the death was affecting him hard, and, in all honesty, he needed a shower. Hyunwoo bowed in respect, but ended up crying at the small favor. There were times where Levi had to comfort Hyunwoo due to him waking up in a panic and screaming and there were times Min’gyu had to comfort Hyunwoo since it was clear his hyung wasn’t taking care of himself. It reached a point where it got so bad that Min’gyu cried and Levi grew concerned as all hell, telling him he’d take him to a hospital if he wasn’t taking care of himself properly. Hyunwoo prayed constantly, consulting the gods for help, specifically Prometheus. Now, you might ask, ‘Why Prometheus?’ Well, I’ll tell you. Hyunwoo was dedicated to Prometheus as he was his favorite out of all the gods, but not only that, but Matthew, Hyunwoo’s adopted father, his mother was a daughter of Prometheus. Also, if I may add, Prometheus is the god of Craftery, Counsel and Forethought. It took months, but finally, Hyunwoo was back to his original self - childish but kindhearted and optimistic. A year later, Hyunwoo was discussing about demigods, how the gods would have sex with mortals and create demigods. These demigods were often attacked by monsters of Tartarus, and it sounded exactly what Min’gyu was going through. Levi kept quiet. Hyunwoo even said the age on which the monsters attacked was usually around age 13. Min’gyu shot Levi a glance. He knew. He knew all this time Min’gyu was a demigod. Siyeon told Levi one day while Min’gyu was sleeping, saying that he was the one who needed to take Min’gyu to camp since her son didn’t trust her anymore. He refused to tell him, out of his own selfish acts, to keep Min’gyu safe. Min’gyu became enraged at Levi. He went on how he could’ve had a better life away from his abusive mother, away from all the sick people that wanted his body, all the people who harassed him at school. But no, Levi kept it a secret. Ignoring Levi’s protests, Min’gyu called his mother, asking her if she knew anything about a camp for demigods. She did, and decided it was time to take him to Camp Half Blood. Levi even came clean that he was a demigod himself, a son of Eros. His mother asked Eros to curse him so that when he found his soulmate, they would share a physical sensation. Min’gyu asked him if there was anything else he should know about. He did, saying the curse would become weaker, and eventually, break, if one is close to death. Siyeon went to pick up the 3 and headed to camp. Siyeon still had her old weapon with her, her xiphos, but decided to give it to Min’gyu, stating that it was a gift. Min’gyu felt grateful, saying it even turned into a ring when not in use. As if on cue, the xiphos turned into a ring. It was a plain bronze ring and Min’gyu put it on. Just reaching the camp, the group was attacked by a group of harpies. Min’gyu tried to fight them off with his new weapon, but wasn’t trained, and ended up messing up. Levi and Siyeon tried to fight them off as well, but the harpies were quick. The harpies seemed aim at Siyeon, attacking her, and eventually, killing her. Min’gyu was left in shock, he felt like he couldn’t move. The harpies aimed at him next, but Levi pushed him out of the way. It didn’t to much, since the two felt a physical sensation, but Min’gyu can feel it growing weaker and weaker. He remembered what Levi had said about the curse - how it grew weaker when one was dying. Min’gyu tried to fight off the harpies again, and a group of demigods from camp helped them as well. The harpies eventually fled from the scene, Hyunwoo coming out from his hiding spot, when Min’gyu saw Levi, his life slipping away from him. Min’gyu begged and pleaded for him not to die, how he was sorry that he was mad at him. Levi said he didn’t need to apologize, and his dying words were, “I hope you can forgive me”. The harpies were coming back, but Min’gyu refused to leave Levi’s side. The demigods dragged Min’gyu away, but Min’gyu was resistant. A child of Hypnos had to sedate him and dragged him away. When Hyunwoo saw the harpies, he was terrified and hid. It was clear Hyunwoo could see through the mist. His heart pounded and there were a million thoughts on his mind. His eye caught sight of a bow and a single arrow. A camper had dropped it when going to help fight off the harpies. Hyunwoo grabbed it immediately. He brought the bow back with the arrow, turned around and aimed. But what shocked him the most was Levi, his body covered in claw wounds. A harpy landed next to Levi’s body, looking at him. Hyunwoo drew the arrow back, aiming. He wanted to kill the harpy right then and there, but he didn’t know how to kill one. His parents said they were heinous creatures but he never said how they were killed. So, Hyunwoo waited. The temptation of an attempt to kill the harpy was strong, but eventually, the harpy flew away. Hyunwoo dropped the bow and rushed over to Levi, kneeling beside him. He prayed and prayed, but it didn’t seem to work. Instead, Prometheus came to Hyunwoo in a human form. He told Hyunwoo he would revive Levi and turn him into a fire spirit. And in return, Hyunwoo would be his priest. Feeling great honor, Hyunwoo complied. Prometheus healed Levi and left, nodding at Hyunwoo and smirking. Levi awoke, wounds healed and looking refreshed. Hyunwoo hugged the boy tightly, crying. Before Levi could even ask, Hyunwoo took Levi’s hand and practically dragged him into Camp Half Blood, telling him the events that happen and how he was the newest priest at camp. He was the best dad he could ask for, fixing his toys, helping him with his math, and taught him about the gods.
