Some of these people were like wild flames who did not want to be under the control of the establishing government. Father foretold a story of the more ancient world where demi-gods or the gifted were discriminated by the others. The group of our gifted forefathers fled to the forest for refuge, establishing what we now call as the Lui clan. Together, they have fought monsters, trained, forged, and created; much to have been a target for the gods and goddesses. They took in strays as well, but required them to change their surnames and forever be part of the clan. If people have found us and refused to join, they must suffer the consequences. Efficient and deadly with weapons forged with the knowledge of the gods, these were once the hidden secrets within the forest and mountains of Guangzhou, China. With full pride do I dare call my people fierce and noble. The story was passed on from generation to generation, but it never reached mine.

− | The picture of my parents' meeting was vague, but father told me of the important details. My father, a son of Circe, was the leader of our clan. He was bold, strong, cunning, handsome, deceitful and a big threat; yet he had a kind heart. This attracted my mother, for it was not rare for the gods and goddess to bear children with our clan. He told me mother came to visit him with he was practicing martial arts. The servants introduced her as a mere mortal who had lost her way and decided to join our clan. Father accepted her request and she became a part of the clan. Her beauty and elegance attracted father and they became the village's new hot topic. A year after dating, my mother told father that she was a goddess, Hecate to be specific, and that she had to leave. She gave father their child, me. Father was not surprised, but instead, gave his kind smile as his heart broke. Before mother left, she gave father two hair clips, which I use to tie my hair, and advanced spell books. Father knew very well that it was a weapon for me and placed it on my grown hair immediately. He named me after Lui Wei Huang, meaning wise phoenix of the thunder clan, and guarantied my bright future like a rising phoenix.

+ | Hi there. Welcome to my journal! If you stumbled upon this, it might mean I trust you enough to share my story or a tragedy has happened, but that does not matter. Now that you’re here, why don’t you stay? This journal was a gift from Mnemosyne — to make sure I never forget my culture, my people, and my story. |

− | The warriors, high ranked assassins, of our village reported a siege of the emperor’s army was charging towards us. The army was not a peaceful one, with war horses and men with full armor. It was also outnumbering our people by at least five times. Father gave his first ever pale face as he realized something. A month ago, there was spy who the people found, but they executed him. Father knew there was a traitor in the village or a possible accomplice who had lived when his partner died. He hated himself, foreseeing that he might be the last to lead the clan. As he told the people to flee, they swore their allegiance to the clan, refusing to abandon their home and honor. Father said it was their choice, so they must gather their strength, courage, armor, and weapons to prepare for battle. Approximately at midnight, the emperor’s army would reach and kill everyone they see.

Thus, these were turbulent times for demigods, who could not renounce their heritage. They were like wild flames who did not want to be under the control of the established government. |

− | The people, who loved their princess, all begged father to let me live, to pray to the gods and ask for a plan to keep me to somewhere safe. They foretold I would be the last hope in preserving the clan and must be hidden from the hands of the emperor. Unfortunately, the people cried, but the gods were forced to turn their back and see their children and followers die in battle. Zeus, the leader of the gods, chose to not lend a helping hand, as he was angered by the competition of men who kept the goddesses as lovers. The people were disheartened, but father had kept their spirits high.

+ | |||
− | Somehow, the goddesses of kind hearts were able to persuade Zeus. Zeus didn’t listen to anyone of their biased reasoning, but commanded to both Nemesis and Themis to state their opinions. The goddess both truly said it was injustice. This made Zeus rethink of not helping his children. The problem then came to Zeus about how can they not interfere directly, as the clan had their rule of "honor" and "pride." As he was slumping over his problem, he heard the people praying to have their heiress saved. He immediately called for Hecate and asked what she would say about it. She explains to Zeus about her plan of sending Wei-Feng to the future time and having a satyr take care of her. Zeus agreed, since he would close his eyes to save only one person.

+ | In fear of persecution, our gifted group of forefathers fled for refuge and prayed to Olympus. What they seeked, they found and established the Lui clan. Together, the village fought monsters, trained, forged, and innovated - much to have been a target for more gods and goddesses. New half-bloods, strays, and legacies, the clan grew in formidable size. Unfortunately, for those who found us and refused our loyalty to the gods, they must suffer consequences. Soon, with consideration to the number of godly spawns, Olympus granted us a shield against monsters - much like the one in the current Camp Half Blood. |

− | The war began at midnight like father foretold and the people were ready to give up their lives. The night of the red moon is what I call it. The people did their best to hide me, but they knew it was a matter in time till they would find me and I would be put to death. All the warriors and skilled hunters had already left me alone to fight in battle. Suddenly, a bright purple light came into the room and a woman appeared. She was beautiful and enchanting, but had the most powerful aura I have yet seen. She came to me and explained to me her purpose and that it was not much time. She told me to trust my own mother and to pack my stuff and I did so. Mother told me if I entered the portal, my eyes had to be red, so people of our kind would notice me more evidently. She told me that she would be unsure of where I would land on and it was all at my own consequences. A swirling portal came in front of me with the reluctance of leaving my family in war, but there were poundings at the door. There wasn't much time, I had to quickly jump into the portal to await the new world---for my people.

− | In the present day, I woke up in a bed with a satyr and a young handsome boy next to me. The satyr named Fred explained that he suddenly found me unconscious and half in the water fountain at the park. He noticed that my eyes were bloodshot red and immediately took me in in case I was special. It was hard at first to communicate with him, but luckily, he was already hosting another demi-god, a son of Mnemosyne named Griffin Hui. I needed an English name stat, they said; we then passed through a billboard and found a pop star named Kesha, which explains my name.

Their symbiotic relationship started over a bag of gold. |

I told my friends that I was going to my friend's house. This bothered Griffin who was suspecting something since he knew I had no friends. One day, a hellhound appeared while I was closing the shop. Griffin suddenly appeared and slain it into dust. He blushingly said he was told by Fred to check up on my constant disappearance. We both laughed it off, and he took me back home. I managed to get Fred and Griffin a gift on their birthdays and they smiled wider than the sun could shine.

⚫ | My childhood was like paradise. Though the people hailed and rejoiced for my birth, the villagers didn’t treat me like an heiress, but as a family member. They did not give me any special treatment more than they gave the others, and I was freely allowed to communicate with the few children of my age. When I returned home, my mother would be strict on my spell training, and my father always had the time to tuck me in bed. I trained to be the next supreme leader in all aspects - assassin, healer, and trainer. For eleven years, my life was close to perfection. |

Luckily, the god of death Thanatos, who was enjoying his company with one of our village’s women, stopped the dog. Thus, one could say, I never had a formal fight for a monster back in my childhood. |

+ | Sadly, despite our village living in peace and harmony, human nature craved for more, more, and more. Certain members of our village planned an insurrection against the gods, asking for more than what we have received. In their eyes, we should be equal. Hubris and greed caused our downfall. Angered, the Olympians allowed a lesson to be taught for all the future Asian half-blood children. They summoned my father in a meeting, and he allowed himself to become a sacrifice, leading all with him to death. However, my mother pleaded for my life, and Zeus, who in favor of the innocent lives in our village, allowed it. Olympus lifted the shroud and made the village known to the public. |

The army was not a peaceful one, with war horses and men with full armor. It outnumbered our people by at least five times. Many people died that night, but before I heard all the blood curdling screams, I vanished. My father kissed me one last goodnight, and my mother opened a portal to the future - one of her new spells made with my father. For the last time, mother crossed two hairpins onto my hair. I did not want to leave, but I had no choice. When she heard the battering ram slamming through our gates, mother pushed me towards the portal. However, some complications happened - such as my eyes glowing red and my life becoming immortal. I was 17 when I would never see my people, my family, my great village again. |

Through the Liu descendants of Apollo and Mnemosyne, the “Tui Bei Tu 推背圖”, or 60-paged book of curses would be commissioned. Each page was to be fulfilled by a demigod of different heritage. This was to remind the great country about its transgressions against the half-bloods of the Lui clan. Some were reincarnated without knowledge of their past - [[Cody Knight]] from the Japanese War (page 39) and [[Haze Ryong]] from the Tiananmen Square Massacre (page 54), while others lived through the pain of failing their country [[Xavier Yan]] in the Opium War (page 36). Yet, there are also those who left for the Elysian Fields. Nonetheless, they were all hailed as heroes of Olympus. And I, whose life inspired theirs, could see all 60 pasts with my red eyes. |

He went with me to beauty parlors and malls without concern that people stared at him for it. We practiced our powers under Fred everyday. After seven years under Circe's apprenticeship, Wei-Huang has returned to camp for a short break. Much has changed about her. She is currently single but not yet interested in long-term commitment. Once a daughter of Hermes, Peidra was such a prankster that she caused the gods and goddesses much stress - almost destroying a whole temple. Thus, she cursed by her own father to be an eternal prankster in the form of a mere rock. Ever since then, she has gained international fame for her mischiefs. Top 3 of her most notable mischiefs were: (1) rolling herself out of a tomb on a Sabbath day, (2) giving Sisyphus false hope in rolling her - and not his rock - onto the top of the mountain, and (3) giving sweet talk tips to her owners who believed her to be the Blarney Stone. Wanting a break from her mischiefs, Piedra the Rock came back to Camp Half Blood to experience the demigod life she never had. That's how she came to know the other campers, including Wei.
On Wei’s study table, a magical journal stands out. Three Chinese words are on the center of the cover: 雷慧凰. If the viewer dares to open, a story plays out with the voice of a heavy accented Chinese woman. While she narrates in first perspective, the viewer would see life in ancient China. Hi there. Even if I will never get to rule my people, I am glad to have once been a part of them. I am glad to continue their legacy.
