In his life, Min'gyu's trauma had warped him into a nervous, cold and closed-off individual. His way of thinking of himself had turned him self-deprecating and believed he was unable of love. After arriving at camp, it became hard to break his routine of abuse and neglect.
However, during his time at Camp, his personality began to improve, slowly but drastically. He became more vibrant and his anxieties became less of a problem due to medications. Implications of Min'gyu's trauma are still noted in his personality by his fear of touch and distrust of others.
Due to his sexual trauma, Min'gyu has developed hypersexuality. He doesn't seek out anyone to sate his needs, but the offer is quite tempting. He also became extremely touch starved, despite his fear of being touched.
Morpheus searched high and low for someone to bear more of his children, but wasn’t able to find the right woman, until a daughter of Hades by the name of Oh Siyeon entered the scene. She was 20 years old and currently residing in South Korea. She lived full time at camp until she turned 18 years old, deciding that she wanted to live her own life. Morpheus knew he had to be cautious with this one, so deciding to get the female drunk and in pregnant her. Once coming into contact with Siyeon, she would describe him as her dream boyfriend. Morpheus told Siyeon he was visiting South Korea for vacation, but couldn’t resist meeting such a pretty girl.
Flattered, Siyeon offered to show the man around, and Morpheus took up her offer. Siyeon introduced herself, as did Morpheus, saying his name was Haydn. Siyeon began showing Haydn around, where to go for the best meals, best cafés, and great sites to see. Siyeon was so enthusiastic that she didn’t even realize how much time slipped away. Getting later and later, Siyeon asked if Haydn had a place to stay. He said he didn’t, and Siyeon offered for him to stay with her for the night. Haydn accepted her offer, and that was when Morpheus’ plan went into action.
Siyeon’s apartment wasn’t very big, but it was home-y. Siyeon offered Haydn anything to drink and asked if Siyeon had any wine. Siyeon nodded, pouring him and herself a glass, talking. The more time passed, the more Siyeon grew drunk. Although it was Siyeon who made the first move, her mind was cloudy from intoxication. Morpheus ended up fulfilling his quest and left the night after, leaving a note for her;
“Dear Oh Siyeon, I know this might come for a shock to you, but you are pregnant. I’m sorry, but I had a quest to fulfil revolving a specific spirit’s dream- to have a mother and father to raise him, and I chose you specifically because there was something in you I saw. Something pure. I hope you raise this child right. Sincerely, Morpheus.”
Siyeon couldn’t get mad. She wasn’t upset. She knew there was a demigod child in her, and she planned to get him safely to Camp Half Blood. Well, originally. Once her child was born - a baby boy she named Min’gyu - she had a hard time keeping a job, let alone saving money since raising her baby was harder than she thought. She would occasionally leave her baby with her neighbors, since she was good friends with them, and sell her body. She kept this up for 7 years, until she had enough money to move. She thought it would be safer for her move away, so none of her clients would track her down and steal her son away from her. She officially ran away with her baby, to Toronto, Canada.
Since Siyeon wasn’t the best at English, she had a hard time trying to communicate, but immediately made friends with a Korean-Canadian woman named Miyong Ryuk, who was from Seattle, Washington. Miyong and Siyeon became close friends, Miyong helping Siyeon with her English. Siyeon tried to influence her son, Min’gyu, to make friends with Miyong’s son, Levi, but being the shy boy he was, he refused. Siyeon’s bliss and joy only lasted a few weeks before she lost her job again, and went back to sell her body, leaving Miyong to look after Min’gyu. Her son, Levi, would always go out at night with a group of his friends, but he knew he was safe. Min’gyu hadn’t had a clue what his mom was doing until one evening, just as the sun was setting, when he was 12, his mother came home with a man. His mother went into the other room to grab something, leaving Min’gyu alone with the stranger.
Since Min’gyu isn’t good with others, it was only natural for him to shy away, it was only natural for him to plead him to stop when the man got too close, it was only natural for him to scream and cry when the man began touching him in inappropriate places. His mother, hearing the commotion, rushed to the scene. By the time she arrived, the man was on the floor, his son curled into a ball. The man lied to Siyeon, telling her Min’gyu had started throwing a fit for no reason. Pulling a fake disgusted look, the man left, leaving Min’gyu with an angry Siyeon. Siyeon screeched at his son that the man was willing to pay big money just for her body, but he had to go and “screw it up”. Min’gyu tried to tell the truth, but Siyeon began hitting and throwing things at his son. Morpheus’ words rang in Siyeon’s ears, but ignored it. Min’gyu was sent to his room, sobbing and crying.
As the sun set and all the streetlamps went on, when Min’gyu finished crying, he peered out the window to see Levi with a group of his friends. Since they lived in a one story house, Min’gyu snuck out the window and followed them, keeping quiet about it. One arriving at the edge of the park, the boys had a plan to spray paint their symbols, as a sign that the park was their territory. Min’gyu tried to get closer, but stepped on a twig, alerting the boys. One came over and spotted Min’gyu. Min’gyu ran, ran faster than he ever ran before. But, one boy was hot on his trail. He caught up to him, dragging him back to their leader. He kicked and screamed, pleading in Korean to let him go, but the other boy ignored him, mostly because he couldn’t speak Korean.
He threw Min’gyu to the ground, in front of their leader, Levi. Levi barked at the boy why he followed him here, but the boy fumbled on his words, trying to explain. One boy, a boy just as tall as Levi with black hair, suggested they hurt the kid as punishment for following them, but Min’gyu began explaining, in rushed Korean. The black haired boy didn’t follow, but Levi did. Min’gyu said that he just wanted to see what was going on, and hoping to even join them. Levi translated for them. The raven haired boy disagreed, but Levi and the other boys were impressed with Min’gyu’s talent, how fast he ran and how sneaky he was. Levi also took a fondness in the boy’s talent. Since the group went by codenames, everyone suggested a codename for Min’gyu. The black haired boy suggested Intruder jokingly, but both Levi and Min’gyu liked it. And it was decided. Min’gyu’s codename would be Intruder.
Each other members introduced themselves, the group was named Branwens, the leader named Corvus, the black haired boy named Raven, and two twins named Sparrow and Ibis. Each member had their own symbol, meetings were at the very same park at 8:30 PM every Monday, and games were held every other night. Since Min’gyu, or in this case, Intruder, was the youngest, Corvus ordered for the other members to treat him kindly. Raven scoffed at the idea, but Min’gyu was humble about it. Since Levi was the only boy there who could speak Korean, he translated Min’gyu’s words, and return, he helped teach Min’gyu both English and French, as French was a second language in Canada.
As more time went on, the more Min’gyu had began shutting himself out, his mother becoming harsher to her son, getting less and less caring for him, and even regretting that Morpheus gave her a son. Some day were really weird for Min’gyu. He’d sometimes get weird pings of pain or even hot and bothered. It freaked him out, but usually tried to ignore it. The more he spend time with Branwens, the closer he got to Levi, even opening up to him more, and Raven, whose name was Hyunwoo, became friendlier and friendlier, especially to Min’gyu and Levi. In fact, Hyunwoo was even childish at times. Min’gyu got colder and colder, only to people he didn’t like. When he was around 13, he experienced his first monster attack. A giant hellhound attacked him in broad daylight. Fear and panic overcoming him, he tried to run, but his legs collapsed on him, hitting his head hard on the pavement below him. His vision grew foggy and dark. The last thing he saw was a bronze-like weapon slice the beast into 2.
Once waking up, he was in a bed he didn’t recognize as his own. He began to panic, but he recognized a house - his house - was just across the street from the house he was currently at. He realized he must’ve been at Levi’s, since their houses were across from each other. Feeling a pounding in his head, he went to soothe the pain, but his fingers made contact with cloth. Stumbling into the bathroom, his legs still wobbly, he had a bandage around his head. Min’gyu walked into the living room, hearing the TV play and noticed a sleeping figure on the couch. It was Levi. Feeling something pinch his heart, he realized something that day: he was absolutely in love with this boy.
He was well aware we was 2 years older than he was, but his knew what his heart wanted, and it was to be with this boy. Min’gyu wandered around the house some more, walking into the kitchen when he noticed a sticky note in neat Korean handwriting, reading; “Will be back a 5! -Eomma”. Min’gyu checked the time. It was 4:47. Miyong should be back soon. Not wanting to be a burden, he began his departure to his home, when a voice startled him, saying,
“Are you leaving?”
Levi was awake, Min’gyu explained why he was, but Levi said he wasn’t being a burden.
Levi said he spotted him passed out on the ground, so he took him home and bandaged him up. Levi left out the part where he also felt Min’gyu’s pain. Min’gyu was grateful, but he couldn’t burden Levi and his mother than he already has. Levi’s statement still stood, saying that Min’gyu was welcomed here. Min’gyu felt his heart flutter. Min’gyu ended up staying. And even for dinner. He thought his mother was getting worried about him, so he decided to call her, but grew even more worried when his mother didn’t pick up. When Levi walked Min’gyu home, he was locked out, so, Levi decided for him to stay the night. Growing embarrassed, he agreed sheepishly. Levi offered Min’gyu pajamas, but they all were too big on him, surprisingly.
Levi suggested to sleep on the couch, but as Min’gyu went to protest, a loud thunderclap startled him out of his thoughts, jumping and recoiling back. Levi was concerned for Min’gyu, but grew worse when the thunder wouldn’t stop, eventually leaving Min’gyu curling into a ball and crying. Levi knew he couldn’t leave the boy alone. So, with a bit of protesting and Min’gyu practically jumping into Levi’s arms, the two slept together, Min’gyu cuddling Levi tightly, like he was ready to slip out of his grasp. Levi realized something that night, as he was falling asleep, he was in love with Min’gyu.
When Min’gyu was entering high school, he barely knew anyone, scaring him. Some boys would spit insults at Min’gyu for being freakishly tall, others would make fun of his English. Since Levi and Hyunwoo were both 15, they thought it was best for Min’gyu to stay close to them. The 2 other members, Sparrow and Ibis, moved away when school started, so they group was only left with 3 members. Min’gyu would often cling to Levi the most and word got around fast that the two were dating.
Things become harsher for the 3 of them. Hyunwoo would ignore it or spit childish remarks at them, Min’gyu tried to ignore it, but it hurt a lot, and Levi would protect Min’gyu, knowing how sensitive the boy was. Unfortunately, one morning, while it was still early, one student came up behind Min’gyu, trying to hurt him, or even worse. Min’gyu tried to cry out, but the student muffled his screams with his hand. Just before the student can pursue further, Hyunwoo yanked the student off of Min’gyu and began throwing punches. Levi scooped up the sobbing and shaking boy and comforted him. Both boys thought it was best for Min’gyu to stay home, so Levi took Min’gyu to the infirmary while Hyunwoo told the office what happened.
Levi comforted the boy until Siyeon came to pick up Min’gyu, but Min’gyu refused to go with Siyeon. Levi said that he would be there when school was over. Min’gyu fell asleep for most of the day, having terrible nightmares, and waking up to find himself in a cold sweat. Overwhelmed, he began crying, but stopped when he heard his bedroom door opening and closing.
It was Levi. Min’gyu rushed into his arms, sobbing. Levi began saying soothing words to the boy, but Min’gyu did something that both boys were in shock. He kissed Levi. Realizing what he did, Min’gyu pushed Levi away, throwing himself on the bed and hiding in embarrassment. Levi laughed, sitting next to the boy. He pulled him into his lap and kissed him back. It was Min’gyu’s turn to laugh and said,
“You’re so dumb.”
As the years went by, more monsters attacked Min’gyu, but managed to escape. His mother would often cause her son panic attacks, leaving Min’gyu to call Levi to pick him up. It broke Levi’s heart to know he was suffering so much. Hyunwoo and Levi became the closest things Min’gyu had for a family. Hyunwoo was practically like a brother to Min’gyu, while Levi was his boyfriend. Min’gyu had opened up to both boys, giving them special permission that no one else had access to. And that was saying a lot. Hyunwoo loved to ramble about the Greek gods, how he was fascinated by them and worshiped them. Hyunwoo was adopted by demigod descendants. Hyunwoo didn’t know much about his birth parents, but he was happy with the family he had now.
When Min’gyu was 16, the day after he escaped another monster attack, Hyunwoo suggested to get tattoos of their symbols since the 3 of them were now legal to get tattoos without parental permission. Levi didn’t like the idea, but agreed. Min’gyu had a fear of needles, but Levi said he’ll be there with him. Hyunwoo went first, getting his symbol, a black ravel with its wings spread out, all over his back. Levi decided to go next, but got Min’gyu’s symbol instead, under his left collarbone. Min’gyu went last, getting Levi’s symbol under his right collarbone, but wanting to overcome his fear, he wanted another tattoo, so he got a back tattoo that covered the left side of his back and abdomen. Levi was there to hold his hand, he knew how much pain he was in and how terrifying it was for him.
Once the artist was done with his work, Hyunwoo paid for all 3 of them. A couple of weeks past, where it was safe enough for the bandages to come off their tattoos, Levi was awestruck at how Min’gyu looked in his tattoos. Min’gyu felt embarrassed to show them off, but Levi kept telling him he looked beautiful, showering him in kisses. Levi was the only person to go beyond hugs, since he trusted Levi so much. The two eventually got things heated and it led to sex. Levi was cautious at first, but Min’gyu told him it was okay.
A month later, Hyunwoo’s parents were shot and killed. It affected Hyunwoo so much, he broke. His parents were the only family Hyunwoo had, but it took him a long time, and praying to the gods, to realize he had Min’gyu and Levi there to take after him. They were his family. Eventually, the old Hyunwoo Min’gyu and Levi knew came back.
A year later, Hyunwoo was discussing about demigods, how the gods would have sex with mortals and create demigods. These demigods were often attacked by monsters of Tartarus, and it sounded exactly what Min’gyu was going through. Levi kept quiet. Hyunwoo even said the age on which the monsters attacked was usually around age 13. Min’gyu shot Levi a glance. He knew. He knew all this time Min’gyu was a demigod. Siyeon told Levi one day while Min’gyu was sleeping, saying that he was the one who needed to take Min’gyu to camp since her son didn’t trust her anymore. He refused to tell him, out of his own selfish acts, to keep Min’gyu safe.
Min’gyu became enraged at Levi. He went on how he could’ve had a better life away from his abusive mother, away from all the sick people that wanted his body, all the people who harassed him at school. But no, Levi kept it a secret. Ignoring Levi’s protests, Min’gyu called his mother, asking her if she knew anything about a camp for demigods. She did, and decided it was time to take him to Camp Half Blood.
Levi even came clean that he was a demigod himself, a son of Eros. His mother asked Eros to curse him so that when he found his soulmate, they would share a physical sensation. Min’gyu asked him if there was anything else he should know about. He did, saying the curse would become weaker, and eventually, break, if one is close to death. Siyeon went to pick up the 3 and headed to camp. Siyeon still had her old weapon with her, her xiphos, but decided to give it to Min’gyu, stating that it was a gift. Min’gyu felt grateful, saying it even turned into a ring when not in use. As if on cue, the xiphos turned into a ring. It was a plain bronze ring and Min’gyu put it on.
Just reaching the camp, the group was attacked by a group of harpies. Min’gyu tried to fight them off with his new weapon, but wasn’t trained, and ended up messing up. Levi and Siyeon tried to fight them off as well, but the harpies were quick. The harpies seemed aim at Siyeon, attacking her, and eventually, killing her. Min’gyu was left in shock, he felt like he couldn’t move. The harpies aimed at him next, but Levi pushed him out of the way. It didn’t to much, since the two felt a physical sensation, but Min’gyu can feel it growing weaker and weaker. He remembered what Levi had said about the curse - how it grew weaker when one was dying. Min’gyu tried to fight off the harpies again, and a group of demigods from camp helped them as well.
The harpies eventually fled from the scene, Hyunwoo coming out from his hiding spot, when Min’gyu saw Levi, his life slipping away from him. Min’gyu begged and pleaded for him not to die, how he was sorry that he was mad at him. Levi said he didn’t need to apologize, and his dying words were,
“I hope you can forgive me”.
The harpies were coming back, but Min’gyu refused to leave Levi’s side. Hyunwoo prayed to the gods, for Prometheus to turn Levi into a fire spirit, explaining that his life couldn’t end here. The demigods dragged Min’gyu away, but Min’gyu was resistant. A child of Hypnos had to sedate him and dragged him away.
When he awoke, he was in the infirmary. Looking around, he expected to see Levi, but when asking one of the helpers where he was, they told him he was dead and his body was missing. Min’gyu thought it was all his fault, he didn’t even have a chance to tell him that he forgave Levi.
Offensive[]
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to create dream-like illusions of attacks so realistic that they are most likely to catch an enemy off guard; however, if they miss they are left vulnerable to counterattack.
- Children of Morpheus can absorb the dreams of others for a short time, removing their memories of them and empowering the user to be faster and stronger. Once the enhancement subsides, the target will remember their dreams if they wish to do so and are immune to further use of this power for a moderate time.
Defensive[]
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to make someone think they are seeing their worst nightmares brought to life for a short time; attempting to scare them into not attacking. The user cannot attack while they are using this power.
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to cause a person to day dream as if the child of Morpheus was a friend, causing the person to no longer desire to attack them for a short time. If the user attacks while the day dream is in effect, it will instantly stop working, so the power is purely defensive.
Passive[]
- Children of Morpheus often receive the current thoughts of people in the surrounding area while asleep. They can turn off this ability if they wish.
- Children of Morpheus heal faster while they are asleep and dreaming.
- Children of Morpheus are partially conscious while asleep, able to wake themselves up at will.
Supplementary[]
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to send a small wave of energy which will cause anyone affected to fall asleep and enter a vivid dream for a short time; after the effects have worn off, a person is immune to further effects of this for a moderate time. If the user wishes, the wave may just force the target into a vivid daydream for a short time. This will require less energy, but will have the same limitations.
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to look into people’s dreams as they sleep and even manipulate them as they wish.
- Children of Morpheus are able to astral project, they can use this for multiple reasons, however, their physical body is vulnerable and they can not effect anything on the physical plane while astral projecting.
3 Months After a Character is Made[]
- Children of Morpheus can create dream-like illusions in order to twist other's perception of reality or make everyone around them see something that isn't really there. However, the illusion isn't physical and therefore is only a trick of sight. The bigger the change in perception, the more power drained. They can also confuse single individuals in the same fashion.
6 Months After a Character is Made[]
- Children of Morpheus have the ability to manifest a small shadowy creature to fight alongside them for a short time; the shadow takes the form of whatever a person’s worst nightmare is when they fight it, however, it is smaller in size if the thing from their nightmares is large. They can command the nightmare and can create up to 3 copies of it, it cannot be bigger than 2 to 3 times the size of the user and doesn’t wield any extraordinary abilities. Ex: the nightmare can fly if the target’s nightmare is something winged like a bird. But if it’s a dragon, it may not breathe fire.
9 Months After a Character is Made[]
- Children of Morpheus are able to transform the surrounding area into their own dream-world, an alternate reality fabricated from the user’s dreams. The dream-world will take any appearance the user desires. Anyone within 30 meters of the user will be trapped within the dream world as well. Within it, the user can fly, teleport, are able to create psychic constructs and are immune to all attacks. They’re also aware of everything happening there. After a short time, the dream-world reverts to a normal environment and the user is left incredibly drained. The user will not be able to move and could possibly faint.
Traits[]
- Children of Morpheus are normally well adept at interpreting the dreams of others.
- Children of Morpheus often tend to be daydreamers, with their heads always in the “clouds”.
- Children of Morpheus typically love dreaming, able to master the concept of “lucid dreaming” at a young age.
- Children of Morpheus sometimes accidentally enter other people’s dreams when sleeping.
