Did someone say icons?[]

  • Kal: She's been back for 48 hours. Just 48. And by the gods, she already reeks of raccoon shit. What is it with New York? It's like it has this perpetual stench of misery and pollution that you can't scrub off. And that says a lot. Ever since she'd returned, she'd slept for about 26 hours, and the other 22 went by catching up on social media. The result? Not seeing any of her siblings. She imagined they were curious as to who the new cabin resident was, but if taking her old room back didn't serve as enough of a clue, she wasn't sure what would. (Irrational? Maybe. Did anyone even remember her? Or were the oldies all gone?) Nonetheless, she was finally ready to emerge from her warm cocoon of blankets and pillows and rejoin society. Right around noon, she emerges from her bedroom, shoulders slumped as she peers around the cabin's common areas for anyone she might know. She rounds the corner to turn into the kitchen and pokes her head through the door. "Is anyone here? Honestly, if y'all left for lunch already, I might throw some hands."
  • Beau: While Beau had heard of a new sibling having come to camp, he did what he always did. Gave them their space and time to get accommodated to camp before introducing himself and giving the whole spiel he normally did to new campers. It could be quite boring and, truthfully it was annoying. Having been in the common room ducked down on the opposite side of the couch so he wasn't able to be seen, Beau perked up at the sound of Kal's voice. While it sounded vaguely familiar, he thought nothing of it as he lifted his head up to peek over the back of the couch and see who it was. "Holy shit..." He muttered as he saw it was Kal. "Well look what one of mom's lions dragged in."
  • Kalena: It took longer than Kalena would ever admit to realize the little guy on the couch was the iconic Beau Chambre. As it hits her, she pauses mid-step, jaw dropping. "Oh my gods, you're still alive?" She knows she has to draw herself out of her stupor before he does some dumb shit to make her look like an idiot, so she closes her mouth and quickly crosses the hall to leap over the couch and plop on his lap gracefully. Kalena, of course, miscalculates her physical strength, and almost - almost - falls back during her attempt to jump over the couch, rather than forward. If not for getting her footing right, she'd have made a dumbass of herself. Unsurprising. She reaches over to hug him, looking like any little kid on Christmas morning. "I for sure thought you'd be the first one to die out of the gang! Damn, how are you, bubs?"
  • Beau: Beau made a mental note at the reaction he garnered out of Kalena, finding it amusing and one he'd ultimately use against her at some point in time. "I'm probably just as surprised as you are." He said, not having much time before Kalena made her way to the couch and almost brutally failed at jumping over it. Beau had to stifle a laugh as to not make her feel completely embarrassed, but he was sure even the slightest sound of him almost laughing was enough to make her feel like a fool. "I don't know whether to feel hurt by you expecting my to have died, or agree with you. I'll have you know I've trained relentlessly since you were last here. I'm no longer that scrawny kid of a counsellor." He paused for a second, smiling happily as he hugged Kalena back. "I've been good though, a lot of life changing things. What about you though, where have you been this whole time?"
  • Kal-El: Well, Beau isn't wrong. Seeing the look on his face is enough for Kalena to feel like a clown, but lucky for her, she's never cared much for the opinions of others, close to her as they might be. "Trained relentlessly? Trained at what? Ogling beefcakes way out of your league?" Kal teases him, laughing. She still remembers her gay awakening all those summers ago, and all the times she begged Beau to hide out at the Training Arena to check out the older campers while they trained. It feels like a lifetime ago. A wave of nostalgia hits her, and she sits back, clearing her throat before she has the chance to dissolve into tears or something. She isn't keen on giving him material to bully her; it's not the way things work between them. "That's great, that's really great! I've spent the past few years locked up in the Sea of Monsters over with Circe, but it had its unique perks, so I can't say I fared too badly." Kalena smirks, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
  • Beau: "I'll have you know, I'm the one out of everyone's league. But, thankfully there will be no more ogling for me. So if you came back hoping we could eye up some campers together, sorry to break it to you." All that aside, Beau couldn't wait to get back to doing what he and Kal used to do. Annoying the shit out of each other was more fun than one would expect. "You? In the Sea of Monsters? With Circe?" He responded in disbelief. "You have got to be shitting me. How on earth did you manage to end up in a situation like that?"
  • Cupcake Kal: "Oh, come on now, get off it, you know you want to. What's stopping you? Don't tell me you're seeing someone, either. You know I'd hit you for that not being the first thing out your dumb mouth, you skinny hoe," Kalena challenges, leaning in a little and pointing at him with an accusatory finger. "Choose your words carefully, Chambre," she warns. Then her look melts and she looks like a deer caught in the headlights. "Tyche loves the gays, I guess? Don't know, but on gods she fucked up my standards about who to bring into my bed," she pauses, "Okay, well, I guess I know. I snuck out one night, and - don't you remember? I think I invited you along, didn't I? Or maybe I didn't. But yeah, I stowed away on a demigod ship with a bunch of other campers for a rescue mission. It didn't work out though, as you well know now."
  • Beau: Beau waited for Kal to stop talking, figuring maybe once she did she'd realize. "You know, if you weren't so busy talking all the time you probably would have realized I've been flaunting my wedding ring right in front of you." His tone was full of jest as he couldn't help but laugh at his half-sister. But as she continued talking he seemed shocked himself in regards to Kal's story. "Okay I remember you mentioning it... But how the hell did you get out?"
  • Kalena: Kalena's hand flies to her chest and her jaw drops, offense written all over her face. She doesn't know when Beau grew some balls, but she must admit, she's absolutely living for this glow-up. She grabs his hand, yanking it towards her face carelessly, studying his ring with a certain level of shock in her eyes. "I - you - but - when?! More importantly, who?! Oh my gods, Beau! You didn't even invite me to your wedding? You know I had dibs on best woman!" Kalena cries out. She blatantly ignores his question as she looks back down at his ring, at him, and at his ring again. The second time she looks at him, she punches him in the shoulder. "Dude! Seriously?! I'm so happy for you! Even though you let me miss out on your bachelor party! Tell me for the love of Aphrodite Cel knocked himself out with it. Or was he not invited? If he was and I wasn't, I'm gonna rip your balls out, Chambre, I swear."
  • Beau: Beau couldn't help but laugh at Kal's reaction, expecting it to go down quite similarly in his own head as it actually was playing out in front of him. "I mean, I did invite you. But I guess given the situation you were in, you just didn't get it. Which, in all honesty, sucked but at least you're here now to celebrate." He paused for a second before taking back his hand. "Cel was invited too, him and Vicki threw me a pretty solid bachelor party."
  • Kallie: "They better have. I'd have Cel's head on a silver platter if they didn't. That said, no offense to him or Vic, but they can't plan a party like I can and that's just a fact. Years on an island getting drunk with a goddess and her helpers, having our own little parties, I've learned a few tricks," Kalena boasts, smirking a little. There's a devious glint in her eye and she probably looks like a villain right out of a film, hatching a nefarious plan. "How would you feel about a belated bachelor party? A 'break from my spouse' party. We can go to Vegas! I don't like cities, but I'll make the exception for my sweetest little bottom brother."
  • Beau: "Well I'll tell you what, you can plan me a party and we'll see just how good of a party you can throw. Admittedly Vegas does sound fun. But it doesn't need to be bachelor party themed, just a party to celebrate my existence is fine." He smirked up until he heard bottom, which he may do more than anything, he didn't like being called. "And I'll have you know, your sweetest little bottom brother is more of a verse. Let's put some respect on my name here."
  • Kal: "I'm offended you think I'd throw a party that's anything less than a banger," Kalena scoffs, justifiably offended by his tone. "Especially in Vegas. It's a party that plans itself. I don't believe in strippers obviously, but we can hit every major casino, or - ooooh, we can go to the Grand Canyon! We can canyon-hop with our teleportation powers!" Kalena's eyes light up the more she thinks about all the things they can get up to. She's brought back to Earth when she realizes Beau is still on a mission to call himself a verse. Her eyes roll to the back of her head and she tilts her head, clearly not believing him even though, in his defense, he probably is. "Okay, well, while you dream about that fantasy world where you top, tell me everything I've missed out on! Any new siblings I need to avoid? Any cabins acting all high and mighty now? What's all the drama?"
  • Beau: "Well you have to understand my scepticism, the last time I saw you you barely came up passed my bicep. It is a little hard to believe you'd be good at throwing a party just for that reason alone." Beau said honestly, laughing a bit. "I must admit though, that does sound fun." He didn't expect Kal to believe him, but he also didn't necessarily care if she didn't believe him. "I don't need to convince you of my sexual position, but you honestly haven't missed anything all that exciting in terms of the cabin. I'm sure you heard of New Athens and the war against the Champions though?"

Dakota and Rhys[]

  • Rhys: As it turns out, there's nothing better than waking up early, going for a run before sunrise and then watching the sun come out from a nice spot in the beach. It's a routine by that point. There's hardly anyone awake, let alone outside, and given what he knows will happen that day, it doesn't feel right to break away from that routine. So just as he's slowing his run down into a walk as he approaches the shore, he starts stretching his arms, wanting too cool down a bit before he heads into the water.
  • Dakota: Being an early riser as well, Dakota completely understood the whole watching the sunrise thing. Granted he preferred to do his runs and workouts at night, but in the mornings he often found there was nothing he enjoyed more than going down to the peach and taking a dip in the water as the sun came up. When Rhys had shown up, Dakota was a good ways away from his half-brother on the beach so he didn't see him right away. That and he was more focused on doing some swimming then looking to see if anyone was around.
  • Rhys: Rhys knew the water was probably cooler than he usually liked given the hour, but after running for as long as he did, it's a welcome change in temperature. As he walks towards the pier, he takes his tank off to leave at the corner and grab easily before he leaves later in the morning. He then continues his trek to the end of the pier, where he pauses for a moment to appreciate the stillness of it all; it isn't something easily found in a camp full of teenagers. Eventually, Rhys takes a step back before dividing into the water, aiming to go as deep into the water as he can.
  • Dakota: Things were calm in the water, after all Dakota was a pretty quiet swimmer. Not splashing about and managing to keep the splashing to a minimum. He was nearing the pier at the point of Rhys getting ready to jump in. The sound startled him at first and caused him to come to a stop, treading the water as he waited to see what caused the noise. Looking around, he saw the natural foam and bubbles of water whenever something punctured the surface of the water, and knew to just wait until whatever or whoever caused it to emerge.
  • Rhys: Originally, Rhys intended to spend his time on the surface, just floating about. But the deeper he swam into the water, the clearer it became he should spend his time down under. It was much calmer and quieter than it was above the surface, even though it was still early in the morning. Coming to this realization, he stuck around for much longer once he reached the ocean floor some moments later. He didn't really know what to do at first, but as he began to take a look at his surroundings, his sight began adjusting slightly and he could see some of the creatures more clearly.
  • Dakota: Truthfully, Dakota isn't a patient person. So while waiting to see who or what caused the splash, Dakota ultimately decided to go back to the pier. Sure he could have gone diving down deep to see what it was, but truthfully he didn't care enough for that. He'd been swimming for some time at this point and wanted a break, so by going back and sitting up at the pier, he can at least watch the sun as well.
  • Rhys: Rhys doesn't resurface after much later, and it's only because his stomach has started rumbling for food. He has to blink several times until he gets used to the sunlight that had certainly not been as annoying in the ocean floor. When he feels he won't be blinded by the sun, he peers around the water until he spots the pier not too far from where he surfaced. He begins swimming in its direction, and by extension in Dakota's.

Leighton and Willa[]

  • Willa: There's nothing she hates more than when Ryder and Theia gang up on her and the rest of the cabin and start assigning chores a plenty. It's Sunday, so she knows she's bound to wake up to orders to clean this and clean that before inspection time, but she isn't in the mood. Thus, she spent the night with Kit at the Nemesis Cabin and didn't bother coming out until a quarter past 1:00pm. She should, in theory, be in the clear now. Still, there's some apprehension clear as she walks into the dining hall for a very late breakfast, looking around for any signs of a half-sibling. She made it this far, she refuses to let her hunger be the reason she's subject to cleaning Theia Ayteria's bedroom.
  • Leighton: Leighton truthfully didn't mind chores, hell it kept his mind busy and that's all he could ask for. Since he had lost contact with his sister Daphne and she had up and left camp, Leighton had been fairly lonely. Sure he could hang out with a half-sibling, but he wasn't able to make friends like Daphne was. That was why post his assigned cleaning duties, Leighton was sat in the dining hall eating a bowl of cereal.'
  • Willa: It took a while for Willa to realize she wouldn't be alone should she continue her little journey of getting some food. When she did, she slowed down a little, but ultimately continued and sat down at the Ares table. She was fairly certain that was Leighton; they'd spoken just under a handful of times before, and he seemed like a relatively chill person. Nothing like the rest of the cabin, at any rate. When she sits, she offers an acknowledging nod and small smile, but otherwise focuses on flagging one of the nymphs down for food.
  • Leighton: Pre-occupied in his bowl of cereal, that was getting dangerously low for his own liking, Leighton wasn't sure whether or not Willa was staying or going until she came around to the table and pulled a chair out for herself. Smiling back at her with a mouthful of cereal, Leighton waited till he swallowed what was in his mouth before speaking. "Finish your chores for the day too?" He asked casually, figuring it was a good way to spark a conversation with his half-sister.
  • Willa: The mention of the very thing she'd been neglecting makes her eyes narrow on Leighton, but it then occurs to her he's nowhere near the duo who could force her back to the cabin. When she realizes as much, her posture relaxes and she shrugs. "I wasn't tasked with anything. I didn't spend the night or morning at the cabin."
  • Leighton: Leighton was partially envious when Willa said she didn't have any chores, but at the same time it at least kept his mind off things so that was the main reason he did it. "I don't know how I'd be able to survive without the chores, they keep me from going crazy here. But I guess getting out of some of the chores would actually be a good thing."
  • Willa: "Alcohol," Willa's answer comes quick and hot, because it's all she relies on to keep from going stir-crazy. "My go-to is alcohol. Is it seriously not yours? With Ryder and Theia on our asses all the time?" She didn't mind the head and lieutenant counselors, but she liked taking the mickey out of them. She hoped her amused tone and facial expression was enough to convey as much. "I have a stash in my room if you want in on it."
  • Leighton: "I uh, I'm not the best with alcohol... I've been known to make some pretty dumb decisions under the influence. It's something I'm working on." He said, recalling all too well how... unpleasant he can be when drinking. He was never really allowed to have fun growing up, considering he was told to always watch his sister, so the concept of drinking and having fun was lost on him and in turn he just gets overly aggressive. "It's kind of early, no? I'm not even done my cereal."
  • Willa: "It's 5 o'clock somewhere, my dear," Willa points out, wiggling her eyebrows. Leighton doesn't seem enthused by the idea, so she won't push it if he says no again, but she at least wanted to reiterate the offer. "Though I didn't mean now. Just a general offer for when you go a little crazy." There's pause, and a beat later, she adds: "I'm not an alcoholic, I promise. I just - well, I don't have many people to talk with, so if I've got the booze, at least I don't have to be as lonely and miserable, you know?"
  • Leighton: Leighton thought about it, and while Willa was certainly right, he wasn't necessarily a drinker so the idea wasn't overly thrilling to him. "You've got a point, but maybe I could just be present while you have your fun drinking? I'm not really into drinking all that much, but there's no point in both of us being lonely in the same cabin?"
  • Willa: Willa shrugs, lifting a grape in his direction with a small smile. "Sure," she ultimately agrees, nodding. She pops the grape into her mouth and chews on it for a moment. Honestly, it will do her good to have someone she can go to in her cabin. Her half-siblings weren't necessarily known for their approachability. "How long have you been here in Camp?"
  • Leighton: Willa seemed nice, nice enough for Leighton to not try and wiggle his way out of the conversation like he normally would when it came to conversing with one of his half-siblings. Leighton had kept a fairly low profile since he'd come to camp, and he was certain most of his siblings didn't even know he existed. That was fine, he didn't care to be involved unless absolutely necessary like chores or training. Things that were common to him before he even came to camp. "Three years. I came in 2017, which is hard to believe probably. I've kept a pretty low, near non-existent, profile."
  • Willa: "Just a year before me? I thought you'd been around for much longer." She admits, her face pinching into a surprised expression. Who'd have thought? At his explanation, things begin to click for her, and she nods understandingly. "Camp and everyone in it can be overwhelming - our cabinmates especially." Willa comments. Curious as to what his answer might be now that he's mentioned keeping a nigh non-existent profile, she looks at him pensively. "Do you plan to stick around, or head to New Athens now that it's open?"
  • Leighton: "It honestly feels like I've been here for way longer, when I remind myself it's only been three years I almost lose my mind. You'd think this place was like the Lotus Casino or something." From what Leighton had heard, the Lotus Casino wasn't the best place to be. So at least camp was actually pleasant, for the most part at least. "But you're right, especially how our cabin in specific can be overwhelming. I don't know maybe it's just because Ares' is so war based but sometimes I feel like the training for hours on end only to come back and do our own personal training is a bit extreme."
