Character's Powers

 ====Offensive====

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to fire an intense beam of magical energy which will burn anything it touches. The ability can also be focused into small magical bullets, which have better range but are less damaging than a beam.
  2. Children of Hecate have the ability to use magic to electrically charge something made of metal for a short time.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Hecate are able to create a protective dome of magical energy around them for a short time.
  2. Children of Hecate are able to become ethereal in form for a short time, which temporarily causes all attacks to go through them. In this state, they cannot attack an opponent and if they do their ethereal state will dissipate instantly.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the innate ability to see in all directions at once.
  2. Children of Hecate are innately stronger at night.
  3. Children of Hecate are able to communicate with the dead to gather information.
  4. Children of Hecate are adept at making potions and elixirs, however potions used in battle cannot be overly powerful or altering to the events of the battle. Potions that can automatically heal all wounds or restore all energy are examples of over-powered potions. Only descendants of Hecate/Circe and Lampades can create potions. Overconsumption of potions can result in overdose symptoms and some potions could have side-effects or not work at all.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Hecate can conjure spells to teleport themselves and allies. The further the distance, the more energy drained.
  2. Children of Hecate can cast a levitation spell on themselves for a short time which will allow them to fly, the longer they levitate the more power it drains. The spell can also be used items and enemies.
  3. Children of Hecate are able to use some healing spells to quickly heal minor wounds and slowly heal major wounds. Fatal wounds cannot be healed.

3 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate are able to control the Mist around them, allowing them to create optical illusions that can fool even demigods. The illusions can confuse enemies with false memories, alter the appearance of the user or their allies, change the appearance of items or weapons or even alter the appearance of the environment to an extent. Changes to the Mist only last for a short time, mist control is less draining than custom spells. (6 month)

6 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to create new spells, whether they were trained, self-taught or devised the spell on the fly. The spells can be minor, such as locating, summoning animals, divination or controlling emotions. Or they can be more advanced and powerful such as controlling the elements, pure magical energy, necromancy, curses and summoning monsters or magical guardians. Spells cannot be overly powerful or controlling. The more complex and powerful the spell, the more energy it drains from the user.

9 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to focus all their magical abilities into transforming themselves into any living being, or even a being of their own imagination. This power is, in essence, the ability to shapeshift into anything the user can imagine. The user can transform into another human, an animal, a monster, or anything in between. The transformation can last as long as the user wishes it to, but the longer they hold their form the more it drains them. They cannot cast any spells while the transformation is in place and they cannot transform into anything overly powerful. (Like a rabbit that can make people’s heads explode with a thought. ) The form they shift into cannot be larger than 2 to 3 times the human size of the user, and after the user resumes their regular form they are severely drained. Unable to move from exhaustion and they could possibly faint. This power can only be used once in a fight.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Hecate typically love the magical arts, many of them are known for writing spellbooks. Her children have created/re-introduced and improved spells and techniques all over history.
  2. Necromancy is commonly a favored magical art among children of Hecate.
  3. Children of Hecate are known for being quite mysterious.
  4. Children of Hecate are often more active and exhibit better moods at night and in dark environments.
  5. Children of Hecate wield innate knowledge and understanding of the Mist.

Roleplay[]

Elysia: Elysia stood within the woods, her black dress swishing ever so lightly in the wind. The sun was still shining overhead, but was slowly making it's descent apparent, as streaks of purple dusted the sky. It was a quiet place, very isolated. It was also far enough away from the Camp and Sanctuary that she wasn't concerned if anyone would walk in on her. She sat her bag down, which was stuffed full of books. She pulled a gem out of a pocket, carefully brushing it off, and she began work on summoning her minion.

Nala: Naladæmon was before her master in the quite literal blink of an eye. She was knelt in the leaves still as a statue, with no sound to announce her arrival but the subtlest rush of displaced air. Her head was bowed, and obsidian-black hair tumbled over bare shoulders. As usual, the nymph wore simple, professional clothes that wouldn't be troublesome underneath summoned armor - today a sleeveless dark blazer over a white v-neck, black leggings and combat boots. "Master."

Elysia: "Nala. It's lovely to see you again. I have a few questions for you. You have served numerous masters over the years, have you not? How many of them have been practitioners of magic? I am conducting a few experiments, and believe you could be of assistance."

Nala: "Most that I have served have been superstitious," the dæmon answered. "Many have recited incantations to themselves as a matter of common speech, or otherwise, prayer. I observed most of these to be ineffectual. Of those that bore fruit..." She paused and glanced aside, searching her memory. Nala herself couldn't accurately tell how many years she had lived, nor how many countless masters she had served across the millenia. "There were a small few that appeared to be true magic."

Elysia: Elysia nodded her head, thinking. "So then, I may as well be your first and best introduction to the arcane arts. You are in luck, as I am in need of an assistant for my procedures. If you remember anything of potential value, then feel free to share. Otherwise, we can begin. You are to guard me, and to make you as effective as possible, we will start with enchantments. Do you have any objections, or concerns? Perhaps requests?"

Nala: "No, master. I am yours to command." Nala rose to her feet without hesitation and stood ready, meeting her master's eye. Of the two women, Nala was taller by several inches. Her height, light olive skin and sharply defined features - matched as ever with an unnatural tendency to go perfectly still - often lent her a statuesque appearance.

Elysia: "I didn't think so, but you know.." She trailed off. She squatted down, picking up one of her numerous books. This one was a rather thin one, more akin to a magazine than a book, yet she flipped through it's pages just as capraciously as she might a novel. "If you could produce me a fine, perfectly clear diamond, it would be appreciated. Fill this vial up with your blood as well, my dear." She handed the nymph a glass vial.

Nala: Nala took the vial in one hand and looked it over, making note of its size while unceremoniously summoning a prismatic spike of diamond on the other hand and driving it into her palm. She showed no signs of pain as she squeezed the spike deeper and forced out a trickle of black blood. The substance was clearly not organic, but instead seemed almost like liquid crystal the same color as her life-gem, its dark droplets catching sunlight at odd angles as it dripped into the vial. After several quiet moments, the vial topped out and she offered it back along with the bloodied diamond.

Elysia: Elysia grasped the vial, holding it up against the fading sunlight, as she inspected it. "It will do, I suppose." She murmured, taking the bloody diamond as well. She began to work, cutting the diamond's top off and hallowing it out, and pouring the crystalline liquid inside it. She placed the top back on, and whispered a spell to sear it shut. She wrapped some gold wire around the stone, chanting to imbue it with power, to energize it.

Nala: Nala clasped her hands and kept pressure on her cut palm to slow the bleeding. It was mildly discomforting, but she was no stranger to much greater pains than a single wound like this. The nymph quickly turned her attentions back to her master. She made mental note of the chanting. The language was familiar, but its purpose was lost on her. True magic was a curious thing. She had heard talk of true sorcery long ago, before the Mist clouded humanity's eyes, but that era was long gone by the time she had ever witnessed supposed "magic" in person. She wondered how much of those old ways remained in Elysia's methods.

Elysia: Elysia smiled as the familiar feeling of arcane energy swelled from within her. The goal behind this enchantment wasn't to truly alter Nala on a deep level, but to see more so as to how resistant she was to the arcane. It would assess if her expeditions and hunts could continue as planned, or if Nala would be a detriment. Some of her words were spoken in a language similar to that which was spoken in rome, but the majority of it seemed to be a blend between latin, ancient greek and two other, more peculiar languages that Nala likely didn't recognize. The blood outside of the diamond fizzled off into the atmosphere, as the diamond gleamed, the gold wire seemingly gone, as the diamond was pristine. She took the diamond and whispered into it, commands for Nala to obey that she wouldn't be able to physically hear.

Nala: The nymph faltered for just a moment, eyes darting around. The compulsions were noticeable, and she felt them clearly. They might have been subtle enough to confuse someone else, but in a way, Nala was uniquely qualified to recognize them as foreign. Having a voice in her head push her to act, when she hadn't been commanded to be her master... Nala stood firm. It was safe to assume this was the work of Elysia's curious incantations. "Master?"

Elysia: Elysia smirked, and let out a chuckle. "Excellent. The goal of that was to test your ability to resist magical commands. I have quarry with many other demigods, a number of whom practice magic, or have some form of persuasive power. I need to make sure you won't fall victim."

Nala: Nala bowed. "Understood, master. I have particular prior experience with the influence of the divine power known as 'charmspeak'. Similar affectations will not impede my loyalty. I am yours alone to command."

Elysia: "That is good to hear. Can you tell me what languages I spoke during my incantations? Or what technique I used with the gold wire and diamond?"

Nala: "To my knowledge, your incantation was given in latina, elliniká, and two Celtic languages. The fourth was gymraeg." She listed each by their own antiquated names, without a hint of accent. The nymph stood tall and blinked a few times. "The third is unknown to me, but resembles the goídelc tongue spoken one-thousand-three-hundred years ago during my servitude in what is now Ireland. My apologies, master. I am unable to speculate on the nature of your ritual beyond what was implied by its incantations. The physical process used is unfamiliar."
