The Rp

Aeryx: Aeryx knocked on the door to the armory and poked their head inside. "Hellooooo" The sound of their voice seemed almost drowned out by the armory. Smoke filled the air along with the scent of oil. They could see lots of projects lining the benches, finished and unfinished. Wow. Must be a popular place. Stepping farther into the armory, they looked around for anyone around in the armory who might be able to help them.

Chet: The sound of a heavy paper bag being set down as Chet calls back. "Be with you in just a moment." A brief second before the sound of a sink running and then turning off can be heard from the back. He enters the space toweling of his hands and arms, a big smile as he greets his customer. "Hello there, welcome to the Forge. Name's Chet. How can I help you today?"

Aeryx: Aeryx turned towards the sound of Chet's voice. "Oh, Hello" They gave him a big grin. "I was actually hoping you could help me choose a new weapon. I came to camp with just my sword that my mother had found for me, but I'd like..." They paused searching for the right word. "An upgrade, I guess?" They didn't really know how else to phrase it. Aeryx had seen many people with unique looking weapons, and weapons with amazing magic capabilities, and they were hoping for something like that too.

Chet: "I'd be happy to help find something new." He walks over to a worktop and grabs clipboard and paper, pulling out a pencil from his apron. "I'll probably end up a lot of questions by the end, just want get you exactly want you want. So do you like using the sword or do you want a different style of sword or a new weapon entirely?"

Aeryx: They carefully thought out their response. "Well, I guess I'm not entirely sure. I know how to fight with a sword, and it's been fine, I just feel limited with what I can do. I would still like a one handed weapon. Maybe. Though I was also thinking about a weapon that looks like a coin or something but can turn into 2 different weapons. I'm not sure if that's possible or not." Aeryx trailed off trying to think of more ideas.

Chet: He jots down a few notes before sliding his pencil behind his ear. "I can certainly work some magic into it, just takes me time to do it. As for other options..." Chet walks over to the wall with multiple pocket racks, grabbing one of the handles and sliding out a double stacked display of all types of single handed weapons. "I can keep the sword for one of your coin sides, maybe perfect the balance and edge if it's not already. What do you think you are lacking that you'd like to have the tool to do that with?"

Aeryx: They mulled over their options. Having a sword as a weapon would be good still because Aeryx knew how to fight well with one. And if they could get a balanced sword that fit them better, well more power to their fighting. "I think you're right. Sticking with a sword as my main wepon would be good. What kinds of mid to long range options do you have?" Aeryx had a couple of options in mind, but they wanted to see what Chet came up with. Maybe he had a couple they hadn't thought of.

Chet: He nods to them and looks back at the rack of weapons, scanning over the options. "Well for longer reach while still being a melee style weapon, I know some people like to utilize a whip, barbed, bladed, chain and the like" He grabs a whip off the rack and lays it out on the work top. Chet pivots the rack to where it lays against the wall as he slides out and opens up two others. "For something two handed but still on the lighter end, there are spears and staves," setting out an example of both. He grabs an even longer and more robust weapon and lays it out, "Finally a full pole arm if you want something with no reservation for dealing hurt. Last I can think of is an actually ranged weapon. Something like...here." He pulls out both a bow and a crossbow, placing them at the end of the spread of weapons. "Anything pique your interest or you're certain you wouldn't like to have?"

Aeryx: As they look over the array of weapons they point out the options that wouldn't work. "Not the whips and chains. Not the spear. The crossbow will be too heavy which leaves me... A staff, a bow and the polearm." They paced in front of the options they had left, contemplating their own fighting style. "Thinking out loud here, a staff wouldn't be useless, but in terms of dealing damage, I don't think it's what I want so that's out. The bow would be a good choice for it's long distance practicality but.... What if I skip the sword? What if I go with a polearm and a bow? Maybe some cool arrows to go with it?" Aeryx's mind raced with all the possibilities of arrows. They could totally get some ideas from an Apollo kid if they needed to. "What do you think?"

Chet: He watches them go through their options, grabbing up the rejected options and setting back in place. With a small smile he answers, "Sounds like maybe some hands on trials are needed. Follow me." He slings the bow over his shoulder and grabs the other two weapons in one of his hands. "I'd hate for you to only base you decision on look alone and then find it lacking when you need it. I have a few targets and dummies set up out the side of here." He snatches up a spare quiver with some arrows before his throws open the garage style door leading to the testing area. There are a few targets set up and various ranges, a couple training dummies, even an automated combat trainer currently deactivated. "So, try them all out as much as you need. Don't think that you have to pick something just like this, if it isn't exactly what you want I'll refine it to what works best for you,"

Aeryx: They nodded, grateful. They grabbed the polearm first as it was the one they had the least experience with. Walking up to the dummy, Aeryx gave the weapon a couple swings. The weapon felt foreign in their hands. They didn't quite know how to hold it, but after a couple of swings at the dummy they started to pick up some basics. "Okai so my one hand goes here.... and this one goes like this...." The polearm gave them a good amount of range on an enemy while also being able to parry attacks with the middle. They liked it, but was it more than a sword? No, they decided. Heading back to Chet they also tested out the bow. The weapon seemed like a natural choice and fit well with their fighting style, plus they had a little bit of experience with it. As for the sword, well, it was a basic choice, but a good one. "Okay, I've decided. Heads for a sword and tails for a bow. The polearm is cool and all, but I don't think it's for me. Also, I'm willing to pay a bit more, could we possibly go over aesthetic details? Oh and same for a quiver and different arrows?"

Chet: He takes the pole arm back, resting it over his shoulder. "Sounds like a plan. And I have all the time you need to work out exactly what you want for this." He grins as he starts back inside. "Join me in my office and I can sketch everything out for you." After setting the pole arm back and closing the racks back, he grabs a few more sheets of paper and starts jotting notes and designs down.

Aeryx: Aeryx slowly made their way to Chet's office, taking time to think about what sort of design they wanted. It had to stand out, and it had to represent them, so what could they do? Mulling over their options, they took a seat in his office. "Thank you, by the way. I know this is your job, but I still appreciate it."

Chet: Chet looks up from the notes he just made, smiling. "You are most welcome, Aeryx. I thank you for the kind words, but this is more than a job. This what I want to do with my life, making things that help other." He points down at the paper and then at them briefly, "And this is my favorite part. Making someones dream or idea come true."

Aeryx: Aeryx gave him a big grin. "Well I still appreciate it. So I really wanted to have a matching decorative theme for all three items. The sword, the bow, and the coin. My dad is Aristaeus, so I want to throw bees in there somewhere. I'm not sure what else to be honest."

Chet: "I can certainly work that in." Chet quickly sketches out several images on the paper, turning the page towards them to show his work. "So a few ideas. For the sword, one is a bee and it's flight going out on the sides of the hilt. I can do a beehive or honeycomb design for the pommel. A black and yellow grip wrap is possible in whatever pattern you would like. The bow I can engrave honeycomb on the limbs near the handhold. And I might be able to get some arrows together that most a light buzz as they fly if that's something you'd be interested in having."

Aeryx: The preliminary drawings took Aeryx's breath away. If the drawings were this stunning, they couldn't wait to see the full thing. "Oh my gods, yes. They look amazing, I love them. For the coin specifically, I would like the triple goddess symbol in homage to my brother. And on the other side a bee. But other than that I really like them and can't wait to see the finished products! How long will it take to make them?"

Chet: Chet smiles and nods his head as he writes and sketches out to details of the coin. "With the other orders and getting the magical effect down, probably five days to a week is when I'll be finished. I'll get a message out to you when I am. And I'm glad you're as excited for your order as I am to work on it." He extends his hand to them with a smile. "Thanks for stopping by Aeryx."

Aeryx: Aeryx shook his hand, grinning ear to ear. "I can't wait to hear from you. And again, thank you so much." Standing up, they headed out of the office, out of the shop, and back to camp. They had some homework they needed to get done and their essay on the Hydra really wasn't going to write itself. `I can't wait to fight with it. And all good weapons need a name. What should I name it?`

Chet: "Any time." He calls out has he finishes finalizing his drawing and heads back into the forge to start his work.

Five days pass...

Chet: Chet carries a should load of celestial bronze bar stock into it's home as he organizes his raw materials. Last thing he needs is this place getting out of hand with tools and weapons everywhere, definitely not an efficient environment and bad for business.

Aeryx: Rolling out of bed was usually the hardest thing to do, but this morning was different. Aeryx was so excited to get their new weapon that they nearly inhaled breakfast before running the entire way to New Athens. Stopping at the temple on their way to catch their breath, Aeryx left an offering, said a prayer and kept going. The entire way to the forge Aeryx kept wondering about all of the designs Chet could have made, and it made Aeryx giddy. They headed into the front of the forge where the counter was, having learned their lesson from last time. "Helloooo?"

Chet: "Be right with ya." Chet packs the last of the material he had and heads to the front of the forge. Looking up to see his visitor, a big smiles spreads across his face. "Oh good morning, Aeryx. I see you got my message alright." He leans down behind the counter and pulls out a drawer, starting to fish around in it.

Aeryx: "Oooh. I did. I ran most of the way here I was so excited." They started bouncing on their toes, even more excited. "I hope the order wasn't too troublesome for you?"

Chet: "No trouble at all. Quite a bit of fun to work on honestly." Chet ducks behind the counter for a second, sliding across a bottled water to them as keep looking. "Since you ran here. Just try to recycle it when you're done." He rummages for another second before setting out a beautifully worked leather quiver with yellow and black striped arrows. Next to it he rests an elaborately engraved celestial bronze coin, one side with a very detailed bee in flight where you tilt the coin side to side you can almost see the flights beating and the side portrait of their father Aristaeus. With a massive smile, Chet stands back up and presents the kit to Aeryx. "I think you're really like how the colors came out."
