Zeta: Zeta was practicing combat all by her lonesome. Her loss against Ryder for Ares Head Counsellor proved that she still has a lot to learn, and perhaps more so to better herself. She held her spear close, with her eyes closed before she swiftly opened them, swinging her spear with speed behind her, engaging a provocative stance. She then slowly undid this, on purpose more so than anything else. She focused her mind, despite not exactly having anyone to fight.
Arian:Arian had been in the Arena as well, deciding it was important to familiarize himself with the strange and amazing battle arenas the camp had provided. From what he had heard, the Urban Arena was one of the most popular ones so he decided to scout it out. He was honestly quite bored since he felt cooped up in the camp, having expected to be sent out on some dangerous quest by his mother by now.
With his prized xiphos out and a leather vest protecting his torso, he ended up seeing some girl who honestly looked older than him training by herself. The way she used that spear made it clear she knew how to use it, which he respected. "Yo! Fight me if you can really use that thing!" The boy's demand was certainly loud enough for her to hear across the block.
Frankly Arian was never a fan of polearms himself because he hated mid-ranged combat. He found it restraining and boring. Hoping she wasn't a coward who didn't belong here, he excitedly marched towards her. His grip tightening on the hilt of his blade as did so, already getting worked up for the prospect of fighting her.
Zeta: Oh, she heard that alright. She turned fully, an expression worthy of a challenger. "You want to fight?" She swung her spear to the same position she held it in earlier. "Let's fight then."
Arian: He was glad to see she lacked any sort of fear or hesitation from her, which he saw as a good sign. Arian charged ahead, wanting to overwhelm her with close combat as much as he could. With a mighty swing of his sword, he tried to knock away the spear. Either out of his direction or out of his opponent's hand. Whether this succeeded or not, he thrusted his xiphos towards her right arm, intending to stab into her limb with great force.
Zeta: The distance needed to make a sword effective was all but familiar to her, and she braced herself for the worst in her scenario. She narrowly parried Arian's first swing, but couldn't repeat it for the thrust, her right arm being grazed severely. Was it bleeding? Probably. But the pain wasn't something unbearable, and Zeta pressed the offence, swinging the rear end of her spear to try and strike Arian's head. She followed with using the pointed end to try to trip Arian backwards, which, if it worked, would give Zeta an ideal position to attack.
Arian: Arian was quick to duck his head and jump two feet in the air in order to evade both attacks. He figured a spear user would want more distance to use their weapon properly, so this made him stubborn to remain close as possible for the whole fight. Last guy I stabbed cried like a bitch, not bad. Impressed that she could take a hit, he got his hopes up for a good spar. With his free hand, he tried grabbing onto the shaft of her spear before swinging his xiphos towards her upper thigh rather swiftly
Zeta: As soon as Arian grabbed her spear's shaft, Zeta was quick to pull backward hard and then attempt to pull right to throw Arian off, but he still succeeded in slashing her upper thigh. To this extent, as she was getting more injury than she wanted, she focused on becoming resistant to damage for a short time.
Arian: The girl's strength and resolve impressed him, most people were shocked by that tactic. Such raw strength reminded him of his father's own physical might. Letting go of her spear, he decided to simply stay on the offensive. Making a series of slashes aimed for her arms and torso, specifically aiming for her forearms so she'd have a harder time using her weapon. He remained ignorant of her usage of temporary invulnerabiilty. The fact he successfully landed two blows so early in the battle made him grow confident he could take her on.
Zeta: She parried a few of his slashes and took the rest, her temporary resistance proving useful. She then went on the offensive, as she swung her spear diagonally down, looking to strike Arian's right shoulder. She followed this up with a swift attempt to use her legs to pull his own, and hopefully cause him to fall backwards.
Arian: She fought like the child of a war god. Such an observation was quite the compliment to him. The way she endured his attacks made him wonder who her godparent was, definitely one of the cool ones. With his eyes focused on her weapon, he was able to sidestep it but was completely caught off guard by the fact that he fell flat on his ass. He was mad he actually fell for that. Literally. He tried his best to get up before she attacked.
Zeta: This was fine. Just fine. She swiftly landed her spear upright and in her elbow, before she began clapping her hands rapidly, to hopefully get something of a minor tremor going.
Arian: As soon as he stood on his feet, the incoming shockwave nearly knocked right back to the ground. He groaned a bit from the impact, but it wasn't a big deal. Rather than raise his sword once more, he quickly dropped it and increased his speed for a few moments. He launched a number of punches towards her face, chest and stomach before performing a roundhouse kick that would strike her lower legs and knock her down if successful. If he managed to knock her down, he'd stomp on her chest. No matter what he'd reclaim his sword off the ground as his burst of speed subsided.
Zeta: Oh shit. She fails to see that coming and while she tries to block a few of his punches, she doesn't account for the kick and is knocked on her back, but before he has a chance to stomp her, she rolled to the side, and swiftly got back on her two feet, taking a defensive stance as she could.
Arian: Immediately going on the offensive, Arian swung his blade directly towards Zeta's spear as he tried kicking her in the shin as hard as he could. Hoping that leave him an opening to stab into her left elbow, a brutal move that would hopefully leave her unable to use her spear properly. Having participated in rather intense sparring matches, he didn't think such tactics would really be a big deal.
Zeta: Zeta blocked the sword swing, only noticing the kick as Arian did it. She instinctively chose to answer with a kick of her own, hoping that she could knock him off before he did the same to her. Internally, she has to admit, he ain't making this easy.
Arian: He was surprised as his foot collided with his own, at this point he was impressed with her skill and decided it was time to get even more aggressive. This time he tried grabbing her spear with his free hand before using his powers again. This time he would enhance his sword to do twice as much damage on the next strike. He aimed directly for her right thigh, confident such a blow could end the fight in his favor. Zeta had proved her strength, he didn't mind hauling her to the infirmary if she was unable to walk.
Zeta: Damn, he is simply not going to give up. She takes the moment when he grabs her spear to stare him down, not really intent on anything beyond showing him that she ain't giving in that easily either. The sword swing however, saw Zeta reflexively pull her right leg back, but a harsh cut was still there. She then decided to really test his mettle; she looked at him straight in the eyes while focusing on creating an illusion of massive bloodshed around him and herself.
Arian: He was relieved that the attack had connected but didn't cause the devastating impact he was hoping for, it wasn't like he could repeat it. As the illusion sounded the two demigods, Arian couldn't help but remember experiencing such illusions while training with his father. Seeing the mutilated corpses that would litter a chaotic battlefield was actually nostalgic to him. "You're from the Ares Cabin aren't you? Sick." The realization that he just sparred with one of his father's half siblings made him smile. Zeta definitely wasn't his toughest opponent, but she was worthy to be a child of the great god of war without a doubt.
Zeta: She offered something of a smile as she nodded. "I am a daughter of Ares, yes. I'd have thought sooner or later, you'd have figured it out."
Arian: "I mean I guess you not crying like a bitch should've given it away." The way she endured his attacks was definitely impressive, obviously Arian had respect for the children of war. "So uh wanna keep going?" He was certainly having fun battling her and he doubted she'd let those cuts stop her from resuming their match.
Zeta: "If I cried, I couldn't call myself a daughter of Ares." She paused to look herself over for a moment; she was bruised quite some, but was she ready to call quits? Nope. "If you want to keep going, then I'll keep going as well."
