Aria Shen ~ Head Counselor of Astraeus
AriaOlder1

"Set your course by the stars, not by the light of every passing ship."
Character's Bio

 Age: 20  Height: 5'7"  Weight: 120-ish lbs.
Sexuality: Aro ace  Relationship Status: Single
Birth Place: Mountain View, California  Main Weapon: CB sword

 – "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves."

Character's Powers

 ====Offensive====

  1. Children of Astraeus have the ability to conjure weapons out of plasma which can be used for combat; however, only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it.
  2. Children of Astraeus have the ability to focus an intense beam of plasma which will burn anything it touches.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Astraeus have the ability to summon a cluster of miniature stars directly in front of them which can be used to block incoming attacks; the stars, however, dissipate quickly.
  2. Children of Astraeus generate an orbit around themselves for a short time, all attacks and people near the user get caught in the orbit, causing them to fly around, unable to attack the user. The user cannot move while the orbit is active.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Astraeus are innately stronger during the night.
  2. Children of Astraeus have the innate ability to see in all directions at once during the night.
  3. Children of Astraeus can innately adapt to most natural planetary environments within reason, meaning they're less likely to die of heat stroke and hypothermia.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Astraeus have the ability to create temporary light sources, similar to concept of a flare, which will alight an area or blind an enemy for a short time.
  2. Children of Astraeus can manipulate the force of gravity of the planet and change the direction and force of it. They can cause items to float or stick to the ground for a short time or cause them to fly into a certain direction. Once the curse wears off, the item is immune to further use of it for a moderate time.
  3. Children of Astraeus have the ability to use the gravity pull of the planet to slow down enemies for a short time, giving them a high chance to avoid an opponent’s attack or prevent an opponent from avoiding one of the user’s attacks.
  4. Children of Astraeus can limit gravity’s effect on their own bodies, causing them to float up and fly. The longer they fly the more it drains them.

3 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Astraeus have the ability to conjure a small supernova, which will burn at anything in its wake on a 10m radius, as well as producing a loud booming sound coming from the explosion. It cannot differ friend from foe and will affect anyone or anything nearby.

6 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Astraeus have the power to cause up to three constellations to appear in their physical forms to fight alongside them. Each constellation will appear as an enlarged version of the thing it is based on except for human based constellations such as Orion which will be the size of a human. Constellations will dissipate after a short time, leaving the user moderately drained. Ex: If the user summons the Cancer constellation, it will be a giant crab that cannot be bigger than 2 or 3 times the size of the user.

9 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Astraeus have the ability to change the surface and mass of their bodies to reflect the surface and mass of a planet in the solar system of their choice for a short time. For example, if the user wishes to turn their body into flames, they would adopt the surface of Mercury. No matter which planet they choose to assimilate with, they will be extremely drained after the transformation and they can only use the power once per fight. They may switch planets while in this state. Ex: The user is reflecting Earth to reach an opponent and then reflects Mercury to attack them. Once in this state, they lose access to their other powers. Excluding those that are passive.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Astraeus often wield innate knowledge of constellations, space and other planets in the solar system.
  2. Children of Astraeus can tell the time, date and their location simply by looking at the sky.
  3. Children of Astraeus typically dream of becoming astronauts, to explore the stars and other planets.

Aspin8

Daughter of the Stars

RP[]

Jenny: Jenny's in the shade, leaning against the building. She had already searched the first floor and found a bunch of computers. Not much help unless you're a child of Hephaestus. Honestly, why did we choose this place in the first place? She's in tighter fitting clothing so nothing catches on a sharp corner or object. She has a small bag on her back bull of ambrosia and nectar. It also has an extra dagger and a few unnamed objects.

Aria: "Crap, I'm late to another training session again?!" Aria thought incredulously. "I didn't even fall into a window this time! Sheesh, gotta step up my punctuality game," she sulked. Well, technically, she'd arrived ten minutes before her scheduled meeting time with her cabin's lieutenant, Jennifer Aspin, but Aria had found out from experience that showing up at least fifteen minutes early was her best bet for having time to scout out the arena before her opponents arrived. "Where did the time go? Maybe I spent too long searching for those extra batteries for my tactical flashlight. Packing lunch was a bad idea, too, ugh!" Aside from those objects, her battered but sturdy backpack held a few wires she'd found on the way to the arena--you never knew when you could use some conductors in an abandoned skyscraper--and two rolls of the gloriously utilitarian creation known as duct tape. Her sword was still being stored as a charm bead on her wristwatch. Aria had been crossing her fingers Jennifer was going to arrive as scheduled, but alas, she saw her standing by the building already when she got nearer. Pulling down her jacket's hood, Aria waved at Jennifer and called out, "Hi! Sorry for the delay, but here I am at last!"

Jenny: She looks up and smiles. She stands and walks toward the girl. "Hello Aria." Her hand automatically goes to her bracelet but she doesn't take it off. She studies the girl. She looked so young, then again she shouldn't judge. Many kids here looked younger than they were and underestimating them could prove to be fatal. "Don't worry, you're not late. Fair warning, I did search just the first floor, I didn't fine too much. Just a bunch of computers. So, what is the object of this? What do we have to accomplish?"

Aria: Darn it, her timing had allowed Jennifer to get an advantage over her, but it was slight and wouldn't happen again, Aria resolved. She retied her ponytail and tightened her backpack's straps so neither would come loose during the duel. "From what I can infer, we're focusing on honing our powers, so we can use them more effectively, and building off each others' knowledge and training experiences, so we can wield them more creatively. We can figure out our strengths and weaknesses and account for them during actual battle. Maybe also family bonding over, I dunno, attacking each other, I suppose!" She manifested her sword from her charm bead and made sure Jennifer could see what it looked like. "I'll be using this as my main physical weapon. It's Celestial Bronze and doesn't have any tricks or gimmicks besides turning into that bead. Just wanted to letcha know, since it is a sharp object, and fully disclosing sharp objects before pointing them at other people is usually a safety-forward thing to do!"

Jenny: She smiled at the girl's enthusiasm. She's going to be good at this "Would you say that you have a pointy object to a monster? I wouldn't. But, I see your point." She pauses. "Pun not intended. So, there are to entrances. One is to my left and one is to my right. I say we each go in one. Because they lead different places, we have a better chance starting off." She then came up with an idea. "What if, the first person to the top wins, and the goal is to make sure the other doesn't?"

Aria: Aria's face lit up. "That's an awesome idea! We'd be able to use our powers much more creatively, and breaking tradition keeps things interesting!" She paused contemplatively for a moment. "We'll need to set a few rules, though. Obviously no attacks meant to be fatal, no attempted headshots, and stopping when there's a clear winner? Oh, and preferably no explosions, since last time I fought in an abandoned building we almost caught on fire and died," Aria recounted cheerfully.

Jenny: "But's that's where all the fun is." She teased. "Alright. Deal. I'll try not to make any explosions." She shrugged off her backpack and took out of ambrosia and nectar. "A little for energy?"

Aria: "Thanks! Just the tiniest bit, please, since ya never know when you'll really need it, right?" Aria accepted a small piece of ambrosia and nibbled on it, hoping her hands were clean enough. Feeling warm and refreshed, she returned her sword to its bead form and bounced up and down a few times to get ready. "I'll use the left entrance," Aria called to Jennifer, already making her way toward the door. "Tell me when you're ready, then let's go!"

Jenny: She nods. "Alright, remember, there might already be traps set. So be careful. Ready whenever you are." She stands in front of the entrance. "Race you to the top."

Aria: "Oh, well, by this point it seems like Jennifer isn't gonna disclose her weapon," Aria shrugged to herself. It was fine with her if she preferred not to; revealing weapons was by no means a necessary courtesy, and Jennifer didn't seem like the type to go out of her way to get an elaborate weapon, anyways. Probably a simple sword concealed on her bracelet or in her backpack, Aria figured, before pulling her attention back towards the match. "See ya on the way up!" Aria called, pushing open the doors and beginning to peer through the darkness. "What are the paths leading to higher floors? Which environmental factors can I use to my advantage? How can I hinder my opponent while maintaining the primary objective of reaching the top first?" she asked herself, on alert and scanning the room.

Jenny: She ran into the building, expecting anything. What she was not expecting was the water balloons that soaked her thoroughly. She groaned. Sure, not even ten feet in, and I've already run into a trap. Lovely. She quickly made her body turn into the match Venus. She held the form for about ten seconds before she turned back into herself. Even that ten second span had made her dizzy. Well, it was either that or be soaked. She ate a small piece of the ambrosia and then moved on. Eventually she came to a room full of weapons. Any size sword she could imagine. Darts, guns, shields, throwing knives, axes, daggers, a mace. She looked around and decided to grab a few throwing knives. Even if she didn't use them they might be handy in the future.

Aria: Something on the other side of the room--probably related to Jennifer's approach, Aria reasoned--made a splashing-sizzling noise, and a faint cloud of yellowish gas floated above the rows of computers. If her opponent had encountered something unexpected already she'd better be extremely careful. Keeping track of her entire field of surroundings with her dark vision, Aria dashed up the closest stairwell and cautiously scanned the floor. Moving down a hallway with numerous doors, she stopped outside a set of double doors to read a building map. "Hmm, they only list from Basement 2 to Floor 5 on this, and the general layout for them seems to be pretty similar: lots of hallways and a big central room. There's gotta be at least thirty floors after this, ugh!" Noticing the double doors were marked as a fire escape, Aria cringed at the unfortunate flashbacks to her match-turned-great-escape with Benny. "Seems like a faster route up, though," she conceded, pushing open the doors.

Jenny: She heads back into the hall and heads away from the doors. At the end of the hallway, there's a staircase. And a map. But it's incomplete. Okay, so, 3 floors up there's a control center. If I can get there, I can probably see the layout of the building. She heads up the stairs as quickly as she could. By the time she made it to the third floor, she was out of breath. Panting she went to find the control room. She found a door marked "Control Room". Well that was too easy. She went to open the door and got shocked. "Ouch". She swore colorfully in Greek and rubbed her hand. Now what am I supposed to do?"

Aria: Thank the gods Aria was paying attention; as soon as she stepped onto the fire escape, the metal panels beneath caved in, and she'd only managed to stop her fall by wildly grabbing at the railing. "Wow, what a useful and safe way to escape a burning building," she muttered, testing out the next steps and achieving the same result. "Back to the drawing board it is," she sighed. Still holding onto the railing, Aria attempted to kick open the doors, but they... were locked?! "What kind of moronic designer would actually do this?!" she fumed. "Ugh. Hmm, now should I find a window and climb back in? Or fly up a few floors and have less energy to fight off whatever's up there?"

Jenny: She walks to the end of the hallway, only finding a janitors closet. "D**n it." She tried to open the door again and got shocked again. Well. That plan goes out the window. Wait, a window... She jogs to the staircase again and heads up. She makes it to floor 10 before the staircase stopped. No. I still have 40 more floors to go. She heads through the door to floor ten and is immediatly flooded with lights. She has to close her eyes to save her self from getting blinded. Crap.

Aria: The railing lurched ominously, and Aria quickly decided, "Okay, I'mma just gonna fly up and pray I don't get mauled by a monster or something!" Floor 8 had a broken-open window, so she gingerly squeezed through and landed in a bathroom. "...I'm not gonna ask," she muttered, trying not to trip over a fallen urinal on the way out. Following the sound of footsteps coming from the stairwell to her left, Aria did her best to catch up to Jennifer.

Jenny: She quickly turned herself into the form of Venus. She opened her eyes and found that she could see. She ran to the nearest door and found that it was dark. She turned into her normal self, panting. She collapsed for a moment, trying to catch her breath. She sensed around in the dark and found a secret passage, it seemed like a spiral staircase around the outside of the building. She stood up and wobbled. "Well, not trying that again for awhile. I'll need to keep practicing that. Maybe when we're done with this we can." She held up my hand and a small star like like burst from it. The groom glowed white and the door was pure black. "Well, that seems too easy."

Aria: Once she reached the tenth floor and was hit by the brightness, Aria started sneezing. Uncontrollably. "Heh, how'd they find out about my photic sneeze reflex, gosh darn it?" she groaned after her lungs stopped trying to implode. The room was filled with blinding lights and an unfortunately large number of mirrors and reflective surfaces. "Whyyyyyy would someone put this in a building? And howwww the heck are these lights still powered? Ugh, never mind this utterly stupid architecture!" Aria began to weave her way through the mindbogglingly idiotically-placed mirrors to where the nearest staircase should be, only belatedly realizing she'd lost track of Jenny.

Jenny: She sends out sense lines up ahead. The tunnel ended in a few feet. there was a trap door and she opened it. "Only floor 12???" She groaned and climbed onto the floor. Immediately she was bombarded by a shower of glitter and glue and feathers. She screamed and batted at everything with no avail. She got glitter in her mouth and gagged. It stop after a minute and she looked down at herself. It looked like a unicorn puked on her. She could have broken down crying right then and there. She spotted an escalator and quickly took it. It lead her up two floors before she hit a dead end. "That's wonderful." She looked behind her and there was a trail of glitter and feathers.

Aria: In the maze of reflectey optical destructiveness, Aria couldn't see for crap. Abruptly she tripped over something, and when she tried to break her fall she cut up her arms on... some wires? Squinting around her she could see thin metallic lines zig-zagging across the mirrors randomly. Okay, the stupid designs made sense if they were meant to be stupid KILLER designs, she supposed, trying to staunch the bleeding with her torn-up jacket. It was impressive that whoever made this managed to put so much effort into death-ifying every floor, yes, but it was also freaking TERRIBLE. "Ah, screw this," Aria hissed, kicking over a mirror and watching a few others topple satisfyingly like dominoes. By the time she got to the staircase the room looked vaguely like someone had launched a missile through it, but that was definitely for the better. Nudging open the doors with her shoulder to avoid using her arms, Aria bounded up, lessening gravity's hold on her just a little so she could run up more easily. She stopped suddenly at the 15th-floor landing. "Wait... what's that smell?"

Jenny: She looks up and finds that there is a stairwell on the next level. She flies up to it and climbs in slowly, feeling tired. The stair well takes her up 7 floors, but it takes her a while because she chose to not fly. She opened the door to floor 19 slowly, expecting anything. What she didn't expect was the corridor to be normal. Normal as in a white corridor with doors on either side. No traps, no nothing. She took a deep breath and and walked onto the floor. It seemed large. The hall was wide and it led to many other halls. She wandered around the floor before realizing that the halls changes behind her and she waz in a maze.Shit. She tried to sense what was around her but couldn't. Great, now what do I do? I can't even sense my way out and the entire floor is changing.

Aria: The air was filled with the acrid smell of burning rubber, and something made a metallic thud on the ground behind her. At first Aria had thought it was coming from a higher floor, but suddenly it became clear that it was coming from below her on the stairwell. She peered over the railing right as flames leaped out onto the eleventh-floor landing, bringing with them the noxious fumes of melting circuits and incinerated computers. "All the doors up there are closed, so it doesn't look like it can spread from this stairwell, good. Gotta hightail it outta here ASAP, though!" Aria sighed, resigned to the fact that apparently all abandoned buildings in the training arenas liked catching on fire in her presence, The 15th-floor door refused to budge. "...Are you KIDDING ME?! That's it, I'm so done with this place," she fumed *ba-dum-tss* while running up to try the other doors as fast as she could.
