Forest/Jungle Arena

Forest Jungle Arena
  • This arena is essentially a tightly compacted jungle/forest, with tall cliffs along the edges of the arena
  • At various points in the forest/jungle there are some small waterfalls and ponds
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements, however due to the tightly compacted nature of the jungle/forest, there are areas where the sky cannot be seen, along with lots of shadows and places to hide
  • At the centre of the arena (jungle/forest), there is a medium sized temple, it is the darkest at this point and there are pyres, full of fire and wood, at the entrance to the temple. The fire that burns within the pyres can not be extinguished, but if the fire is removed from the pyres, it can then be put out.
  • Inside the temple are various Greek statues, roughly 6 feet tall
  • There are numerous and various species of wildlife hidden amongst the forest/jungle, but none larger than a grizzly bear

Raeyn Esparza

Wil: He brandished his sword, quickly taking cover in a tree. The skies were his friend

Raeyn: Nervously fiddling her fingers, Raeyn peered curiously at her surroundinggs. The forest was lush and practically oozing of plant life - perfect for camoflage and plenty of hidey holes. She was dressed lightly in her armor, her belt secured tightly around her waist. Approximately a dozen throwing knives hung from it, and a few odds and ends such as gasoline, dry ice, and some duct tape. Her fingers tapped once against her left palm, and her gunongs shimmered into existence, balancing perfectly into her hands. Trudging noiselessly onward, she carefully kept herself in the shadows.

Wil: He kept a watch for the girl, hoping to catch her by surprise. He stood motionless on the shaded branch.

Raeyn: Raeyn wasn't dense. Her opponent was a son of Zephyrus, as far as she knew, and it would be suicide to keep to the open areas. No, she scuttled along the dark corners, maneuvering her way through the thick foliage. In the open, she was as good as a squirrel in the claws of an eagle. But here? She glanced around the compacted area. They were on even footing. Focusing, she tensed and waited for any out-of-the-way sound that could alert her to his presence.

Wil: He knew she was a daughter of Athena, and would be smart. For him though, his best strategy was to stick with his elements. He figured she would analyze whatever information given on himself to help take him down. It seemed this would be a game of waiting, watching, and patients. He would need to be careful to control his urges.

Raeyn: Underestimating the opponent was dangerous. Overestimating was equally so. Shinnying up a tree stealthily, Raeyn tested her weight against the branch before looking to see if there were any odd disturbances. Her strategy was simple, easy, and effective: attack, move back to hiding, and attack again. Head on battling wasn't her style. What was it called again? Oh, yes, guerilla warfare.

Wil: He stood in wait, knowing she would come for him.

Raeyn: Bracing herself, she leaped lightly to the next tree, soaring through the air for a brief moment before landing impossibly on her feet, her weight barely even making the branch sway. She'd seen Minka do it for long periods of time, hardly even running out of breath, and she'd asked how to do so. It hadn't been easy. She kept falling off branches and being forced to summon pumpkins to slow her fall, but that was another story. Her dark eyes narrowed as she spotted something move almost imperceptibly in the distance.

Wil: He continued to stand still. Life wanting to be in the army taught him discipline. He knew when attack came to shove, he would be prepared.

Raeyn: Leaping from tree branch to tree branch with impeccable stealth wasn't easy. Every few yards Raeyn had to pause to catch her breath. She could finally spot a figure standing motionlessly in the distance. Weren't most demigods ADHD? How could he just stand there? Nevertheless, she pressed on, the wind whipping at her face as she nimbly traipsed along the narrow shafts of the boughs.

Wil: His anxiety, ADHD, and longing.....longed to escape. But he held firm. He knew it was what his mom would do. He supposed all his energy would be unleashed n the girl. If not, where else? He sees a figure from below, moving towards him. He wouldn't have noticed, had it not been for his careful whatch. She was really near now, about three trees away. She would be coming. He waited.

Raeyn: She immaculately landed just two branches below the boy. She looked up, frowning strangely at her adversary. He hadn't moved a single inch all this time. She was supposed to be going for attack and hide, but she decided to stall for a moment. Staring intently at him, she asked, "How can you stand so still? I'm not even ADHD, just seriously impatient, and I can't do that."

Wil: "Military family." He said simply. Strain pulsed at his forehead. Sooner or later, his anxiety and ADHD were gonna blow. It was not gonna be pretty.

Raeyn: Raeyn nodded to herself. That made sense. Letting go of her gunongs, she had already drawn two throwing knives before they had shimmered into mist. With two fluid motions, the knives soared through the air, headed for two pressure points on Wil. Even as they did so, Raeyn prepared herself to flip down to the ground.

Wil: Now that the quick chat had finished, He knew she would attempt to finish him off. He lets his control go, and he soared away from the tree. The knives barely missed. He flew toward the ground, hoping to intercept the girl.

Raeyn: He may have been the son of a wind god, but Raeyn knew exactly how to get around that. Faster than an eyeblink, she unclipped something from her belt, jerked her finger, and snapped it upwards with a wrist flick. The smoke grenade reacted instantaneously, flooding the area with smoke. Two more knives off her belt were thrown with deadly speed towards the area where she had gauged where he was. She free fell towards the ground in the opposite direction, tucking and rolling to absorb the impact, and flipping over running.

Wil:Smoke covered his eyes, and he heard a whistling by his ears. Something scratched his arm, but the wound wasn't deep. The girl was good, but not perfect. He flew off in an unknown direction, due to the smoke. Once he reached ground, he lay flat, crawling slowly to the nearest underbrush

Raeyn: Gasoline dripped endlessly across the smatter of nature as Raeyn moved. She glanced at it before offhandedly recapping the bottle and turning to survey her surroundings. Trees were much scarcer where she had run, and at one point, the ground was completely bare, save for a few stumps. Plant life was indefinitely lesser, but one could still cause a nice fire with plenty of places to run. She'd doused several trees and a bit of the smaller plants, but left the other sides open. Behind her was open space, a last resort getaway. Raeyn was well-stocked with resources, but eventually they would run out.

Wil: Now under cover, he checked to see if he saw any demigods nearby. Seeing none, H e quietly flew up a covered tree nearby. It was one of the last trees in the area, it seemed, but it provided good vantage point.

Raeyn: Some duct tape here, a stretched twig there, andddd- bam! Raeyn checked over her new trap cautiously - one wrong move and she could be trapped. An okay net had been woven out of leaves, stripped tree bark, and some duct tape. She was surprised she could weave the makeshift net so fast, even more so that she had actually used a trait of a child of Athena. Careful maneuvering the one last twig, Raeyn's trap was set. Her opponent had the advantage of flying in open areas - but without that, they were on even ground. The net was carefully camoflaged on the ground. The slightest pressure could set it off. Now all she had to do was wait.

Wil: Unbeknownst to her or him, Wil was also in wait, in a tree. Eventually, they would have to fight. He looked for fire, knowing it was the signal he needed. Especially now that night was coming

Raeyn: A slap of friction caused a spark, which upon dropping to the gasoline, ignited. Raeyn backed away as a quarter of the circle of foliage burst into flames, sending out a smoky signal to whoever was out there. Slipping quietly behind a non-burning tree, she watched as the flames licked at the moat she had dug, trying to get to other vegetation. Thankfully, the water stopped that.

Wil: He notices the fire, and quietly gets down from the tree. Once he is at the bottom, he rolls in the dirt, trying to get himself camouflaged. Once he is satisfied, he begins his quiet crawling campaign towards the fire. He knows its wiser than flying, due to the limited amount of time he can be in the air without tiring.

Raeyn: A soft hoot caught the daughter of Athena's attention. On one of her refuge's branches, an owl was perched, its eyes boring into hers. With a quick thought, she immediately sent it to circle from above and check for Wil's location.

Wil: He suddenly saw an Owl pass above him. He stopped moving for a moment. Could it be....? He wasn't sure, but he decided his best bet was to stay still. Hopefully, the camo would work, if the owl turned out to be more than meets the eye.

Raeyn: The owl swooped back, twisting and turning dizzily in the air in the case it was being followed. Then it swooped down almost imperceptibly back to Raeyn's hideout. The air was thick with smoke, and the daughter of Athena was grateful that she remembered to bring a wet kerchief to breathe through. No sign of Wil, but the owl explained its suspicions in soft hoots.

Wi:Once he felt the owl was gone, he began his silent crawl campaign again. Really shoulda brought a granola bar, he thinks. By now, he is about 50 feet away from the light of the fire.

Raeyn: Raeyn busied herself with knotting yet another net of leaves and branches. Who knew origami could actually help her in fighting? A few odds and ends from her belt were put to use as another makeshift remote control was built from scrap metal.

Wil: He was now 20 feet away. He could see her clearly, but her hand motion was unclear. What could she be doing? He stayed still, eyes focused

Raeyn: Freezing in place, Raeyn relaxed as she sensed somebody's eyes on her. Hm, she'd been spotted. Keeping her expression neutral, she made sure to keep the remote control out of sight.

Wil: He wanted to take out his sword, but was afraid the movement might draw her eye. Instead, he leaped from the ground, taking a superman-style flying pose as he attempted to tackle her

Raeyn: Raeyn felt the wind shift oh so slightly. Maybe all those extra "sense" training sessions with Minka did pay off. As she twisted around from her hideout (which apparently was not good enough, she'd need to cover camoflaging tactics in training later), she was already activating the remote control, her two nets springing into action like a pile of dominos.

OOC: srry about oocing but, im confused lol. Are the traps on the ground, or hanging in the air, or what? asking because I need to know how to react accordingly XD

OOC: tis fine. Anddd uhhh, traps are camoflaged on the ground, controlled by remote control or can be pressure activated. It basically springs up and tangles the target if activated. c:

Wil: One net manages to tangle his leg, the other hitting him in the face. His flying slows down with the added weight, but, seeing as he can't see where he is going, he forces himself to continue his spinning. thank gosh I didn't bring any tacos... He falls to the ground, missing Raeyn by about 15 meters.

Raeyn: The nets had shot slightly off course, but had been successful in pushing her opponent off course as well. Raeyn sprang, spry as a jungle cat, dropping the remote control as her gunongs flashed into her hands, heading in the direction of the tangled Zephyrus kid.

Wil: He manages to create a dome of wind over himself, but a spark does get inside the dome. It cuts his cheek, but not grievously. He notices her heading towards him, and sends a gust of wind in the general direction. I gotta distract her so I can get untangled...

OOC: Wait wut spark? o.o x.x

OOC: Sorry, by spark, I meant, the velocity of the weapon then refracting from the dome caused a spark, but due to the dome not being completely sealed, it got inside and got on Wil's face. It's pretty much a tiny cut. If you've ever seen the stuff that flies from cigarettes when you have it outside the car, and it gets in and burn your face, it's kinda like that. Minus the cigarette (no I do not smoke XD)

OOC: OHhhh, silly me x3

Raeyn: Undeterred by the weapon glancing off the shield, Raeyn crossed the distance between them easily. The thing about wasn't easy to make an attack of it subtle. Narrowly avoiding it by diving sideways, Raeyn threw her remaining gunong before summoning her sword. Hopefully the sharp projectile would force him to focus on the shield and not untangling himself, long enough for her to reach him.

Wil: He upholds the shield, completely forgetting to untangle himself. She is good... He slowly attempts to get up, not wishing to completely let her know how much strength he had left. Yes, he is tired, but he still has lots of fight in him. He sends a small gust of wind at her, mostly to give an impression that he was wearing out, and partially to conserve strength. As he is about half way up, he remembers the ropes. Dangit...

Raeyn: "Thanks for the quick reflexes, Athena," Raeyn managed to think as she managed to dodge-roll sideways, avoiding most of the impact of the gust. She was still thrown off-course and tossed to the ground several feet awat, but shot up almost immediately, trying to ignore the sting of the fall. Her net still had Wil tangled, which was good - her bluff had worked. So...for another distraction? Focusing while running took some serious effort, and Raeyn mentally thanked Minka for her no-nonsense attitude during training. As she felt the start of a headache coming in from the mental stress, a baseball popped into existence in her hand, and she swung it into the air, smacking it in Wil's direction with the flat of her blade. She hoped it would a. distract him again and/or b. hit the shield with enough force to topple it.

Wil: As Raeyn dodges the wind, Wil quickly raises his shield back up. I wonder what she would've done, had I left the sheild down. The ball flies at his shield, momentarily distracting him. The shield does not go down, however, and reflects off. It bounces against a poor innocent tree, the two trainees becoming bullies to nature. He is still tangled, but as he did not bring a knife, he has to deal with using the sword. What if I pretend to be down for a bit? It could work, but it was risky. Quickly, sends another gust of wind, giving Raeyn the perfect opportunity to hit him. As he hopes. It will give a valid excuse as to why I'm down. He looks at his sword. It is short, but still longer thana knife. I need to come better equipt....

Raeyn: Noting with dismay how her baseball missed, Raeyn barely managed to duck out of the way of another incoming gust, which weren't unlike rolling barrels. Damn...was so close... Her dark eyes narrowed at the lowering of the shield as Wil seemed to be trying to untangle himself. Distractions, delays, counters, and bluffs. Time to pull one of them. She ran through the possible attacks she could initiate, and finally decided on one. Focusing and ignoring her weakening state, a curse was set on Wil to ruin his ability to formulate strategies for a short time. The moment she was done, Raeyn bit through some ambrosia she had carried in one of her many belt pockets to ease the incoming headache. Reaching for another pocket, she took off running at Wil as she unclipped one of her last smoke grenades from her belt, jerking the trigger and lobbing it into the air. The reaction was instantaneous as before; she hoped the curse and smoke would "combo" for her long enough to make a hit.

Wil:First he became somewhat dizzy, then he couldn't think clearly. What....what was my plan again?... He barely remembered something about rope. Smoke surrounds him from out of nowhere. Uhh... He tries to think his way through the problem, but nothing comes up in his head. Sadder still, he decides to sit down and try and come up with something. The rope kind of itches him but he still ignores them. Why can't I come up with anything to do??? He taps his sword at the ground. I feel somewhat unsafe, I should probably raise my wind shield up. It isn't really a strategy, but more of a fight or flight response. There's an opponent out there, and he is incapable of thinking a solution to defeat them. He somewhat looks constipated as he tries incredibly hard to formulate a plan and keep up the wind shield. Slowly but surely, his power usage is draining him, and already he is exhausted.

Sheep - We might as well make an OOC. And hey, he can't throw out gusts with the shield up, iirc? I assume the shield was down when he was getting up? -confused cause I suck at this- oh wait no. oops silly me XD

Zeena- I would assume so too XD so ye, it probs went down. Is it wrong that I want him to get lobbed with a baseball? lololol I mean, I didnt do it, but still, it would be interesting

Sheep - Zeeeeeenaaaa, did the baseball rebound or something OuO i ish confusedsh

Zeena- OMFG sowweh. idk why but I thought she'd thrown another baseball >.< lemme fix de post Zeena- posted for realz
