Forest/Jungle Arena

Forest Jungle Arena
  • This arena is essentially a tightly compacted jungle/forest, with tall cliffs along the edges of the arena
  • At various points in the forest/jungle there are some small waterfalls and ponds
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements, however due to the tightly compacted nature of the jungle/forest, there are areas where the sky cannot be seen, along with lots of shadows and places to hide
  • At the centre of the arena (jungle/forest), there is a medium sized temple, it is the darkest at this point and there are pyres, full of fire and wood, at the entrance to the temple. The fire that burns within the pyres can not be extinguished, but if the fire is removed from the pyres, it can then be put out.
  • Inside the temple are various Greek statues, roughly 6 feet tall
  • There are numerous and various species of wildlife hidden amongst the forest/jungle, but none larger than a grizzly bear

Althea "Thea" A. Jansen ~ Intellectual Perfectionist
Thea WB

“Always have the upper hand.”
The jungle. There couldn't be any place more homely to her than this. She grew up in them, knew every living plant that grew and all their behaviors. The demigod couldn't feel any more at home. As she walked through the shadowy canopies, she noted the many places for hiding and rush of waterfalls. The trees were great leverage for long-distance attacks, but there were also the tall statues. Despite not being new to fighting, the thrill of coming to the arena showed clearly on her face. She was happy to be here. Her machiara and keris sheathed and ready on her belt, she stopped before a temple. No, the enclosed space limited movement. With a dash, Thea secluded herself in a tree cavity and observed her surroundings.

Character's Powers

  1. Children of Athena have the ability to see each specific pressure point on another person and are proficient at striking them in order to immobilize or greatly pain another person for a short time.
  2. Children of Athena are changed during battle and become stronger and quicker in combat than a normal human could achieve.

  1. Children of Athena are able to generate loose materials or manipulate any loose materials found around them to weave a wall. The wall obstructs the view of anyone facing them, and also blunts attacks. However, it does not stop attacks entirely, it is only capable of slowing the attacks down (possibly say that the wall will cut like a bunch of woven stuff or something ~ spiders and what not).
  2. Children of Athena, using their inclinations of battle and strategy, can most of the time, predict the course of action an opponent attacking them will take, and and are able to dodge or parry accordingly. However, if the prediction is wrong this may cost the child of Athena dearly.

  1. Children of Athena have the innate ability of hyper-cognition. They are able to perform more complex mental operations than a normal human could achieve. They are able to process thoughts and learning far quicker than others with little cognitive effort.
  2. Children of Athena have innate battle reflexes which allows them to fight and dodge quickly.
  3. Children of Athena are able to communicate with and command owls. If the user gives too many commands, the owls will become frustrated and disobey.

  1. Children of Athena have the ability to empower strength and intelligence upon nearby allies and instil fear upon nearby enemies with a deafening war cry for a short time.
  2. Children of Athena have minor telepathic abilities, making them able to telepathically communicate with their allies and read the current thoughts of an opponent’s mind. But this mind reading does not always work.
  3. Children of Athena through telepathy are able to alter the moods of a person or group of people for a short time. They are able to make an ally calmer and more courageous or an opponent panicked or depressed. Once a target has suffered from this power, they become resistant to it for a moderate amount of time.
  4. Children of Athena can curse an opponent, temporarily ruining their ability to formulate battle strategies for a short time. With this curse, the target would only think up rather silly and quite awful strategies. This gives the user a chance to attack or flee. Ex: The target would fake a heart attack and fall back on the ground, thinking the user would believe it and give up on the fight.

3 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Athena, due to the strength of their minds, are gifted with the ability of clairvoyance. They are able gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses, for example beyond their normal sensory range or when unable to use their physical senses. Some techniques of clairvoyance are veridical dreaming, scrying and parasight.

6 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Athena can curse an opponent with severe stupidity and ignorance, temporarily stripping them of their intelligence and knowledge. The curse can cause an opponent to lose their common sense, fighting skill and tactical abilities. The target could even be unsure how to swing a sword or use their powers properly. After a short time, the curse will wear off and the target will regain their intelligence and knowledge. Their minds will be resistant to further use of the curse for a moderate time and the user will be substantially drained.

9 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Athena can turn into a normal sized owl of whichever species they select for a short period of time, allowing them flight. The user has the option to grow into a giant owl, it can be up to 2 to 3 times bigger than their size as a human. This will make the transformation more draining. As a giant owl, the user would be twice as fast as a normal owl mid-flight, be able to transport allies and possess a very loud scream. After the transformation, they are extremely drained. Unable to move and they could possibility faint.

  1. Children of Athena are normally very intelligent, wise and clever. Able to easily excel in school.
  2. Children of Athena tend to be very adept at weaving, pottery and other crafts.
  3. Children of Athena typically have the potential to become great soldiers, agents or generals. Able to perform remarkable feats within the Military.
  4. Children of Athena can grow up to make great scholars, teachers, professors and scientists.

Powers 3, 6, 9 are unlocked.

Specialized Abilities

  1. Vibration Sensing: Her silat training also taught her to sense the location of a person or object without seeing within a close vicinity by detecting their energy vibrations. The training basically involved going through an obstacle course blindfolded, and several breathing techniques.
  2. Heightened Pain Tolerance: The breathing technique mentioned before also helps her manipulate her muscles to pass pain harmlessly. This is done by tensing, or 'steeling' her muscles with each inhale and exhale so that the blow disperses instead of passing through to her vital organs. This allows her to recover extremely quickly after getting hit.
  3. Hand-to-Hand Combat: After 16 years of learning pencak silat, her body is now a deadly tool of precision and accuracy. She attacks with complex combinations of kicks, punches, spins, sweeps, and locks.

Thea: She sees movement from the corner of her eyes, and as she remained still, the figure kept moving until he was in her line of sight. Thea raised an eyebrow somewhat at the outcome; her half-brother. She had seen him before, but they'd never spoken. She watched as he hopped up on a tree near the swampy area of the jungle, and a plan formulated in her head. Exitting the tree cavity, she took off her shoes and scaled up the tree in a monkey-like fashion. But hey, she grew up in Indonesia. She climbed up higher and higher and moved from one tree to another with ease, seeing how tightly compacted they were, until she was above him. Hidden amongst the canopy leaves, she summoned her bow and arrows and shot. As soon as the arrow flew, she moved to perch on a different branch and fired again. Again and again until five arrows were let loose.

Zach: He was swimming near the bottom of the swampy pool towards the other end in a fashion to avoid detection as soon as she lets up on shooting arrows he cojures his bow and arrows and fires three arrows at her final position one to the left right and center all shot to arrive at there target within tenths of a second of each other he then swims again at the bottom until he reaches a good 150 yards away in an area where the trees shielded him he ran towards a cluster of trees another 30 yards away got his bow out and waits. The algae from the swamp make it very hard to spot him in addition to the mossy branches of the willow.

OOC: How she magically spots him in the whole expanse of the forest I fail to comprehend...

Thea: She let a smirk adorn her face to see Zach dive into the swamp, yet the twinkle of arrowheads immediately snapped her back to attention. She released hold of the bow and arrows, allowing them to revert back to a necklace, and in a flash pulled out her keris to hit the arrow on the left. Since they arrived at the same time, the arrow she whacked then bumped the middle, and soon the right, throwing all three arrows off their aim. Sheathing it once again, she resumed her pursue, frowning a bit to see the algae stuck on Zach to provide camouflage. No matter. He might be well hidden, but he was wet and heavy. Plus, the algae would dry and stiffen his entire body. Thus, she resorted to her ears, listening to his footsteps and breathing. They stopped among a clutter of trees. He may be well hidden, but the dangling leaves his her just as well. Circling around that certain area, she struggled to find his whereabouts.

OOC: I didn't know we were supposed to play cat and mouse first, (seeing how big the jungle was and how long it would've taken them to find each other anywau, so I assumed Zach passed by near her while she hid) but I'll take that as a note. Also, just like you, I fail to comprehend how Zach is suddenly swimming when a moment ago, he was perched on a tree. Thus, I assumed he jumped.

OOC: Okay, I can't post on this anymore your first post was overpowered in my opinion by having her see him, track him, jump trees to him, circle over him and shoot arrows at him without letting him lift a finger which has turned this into a cat and mouse roleplay in the sense she keeps chasing and shooting and he keeps running. In addition, growing up in Indonesia would not in my opinion justify her seemingly limitless supply of energy.

OOC: Firstly, in the first post, as I've said, I assumed Zach passed near Thea to get things started sooner. Secondly, climbing a tree, hopping to branches that are near each other, I did not say circle, while shooting arrows, do not take a lot of energy. (Even if it does, they're demigods, and I recall someone on chat saying they have extended stamina anyway) Thirdly, you put Zach at a disadvantage yourself by making him dive into the swamp. He could've done a great many things to defend himself while not having to jump. Fourthly, her growing up in Indonesia was only to explain why she climbs up a tree in a monkey-like manner and why she took her shoes off. But hey, I'm just a newb. Maybe I should've rped with others first so I didn't irritate you with my amateur hour.

OOC: Regular rp is fine this is just not working out for me due to my degree of inexperience coupled with yours this is not an attempt to insult you or your work in any way shape or form this is just me speaking (or rather typing) my mind.
