Laurel Di Martin was a young graduate from her local High School attending University of Washington. Kristopher McAlister was a young graduate as well, from a High School a few hours' drive away, also attending the University of Washington. He was heavily involved in the college's ROTC program, and one spring night, Laurel and Kristopher met through a mutual friend of theirs during a dorm study session. That one meeting kicked everything off, and after six years of dating, they found themselves getting married. However, after their marriage, they went four years without a family coming along, and much to Laurel's worry, she received the news that she couldn't become pregnant.

But Kristopher's work alongside the Air Force, working on redoing their flying cirrculum, caught the eye of the Goddess Athena. She was attracted to him due to his skill and creativity to incoropate new and unique situations and lessons into their training, and before he knew it, he found himself engaging in intellectual conversations with Athena. Before anyone knew it, he was returning home with a baby girl wrapped in a blue swaddling cloth and presenting her to his wife. All memories of Athena was pushed out of his mind as Laurel and Kristopher took in the baby after the years of disappointment.

They named her Ryleigh Grace McAlister, and she would grow up alongside other base kids. Growing up on base was always interesting for her, especially when it involved PT or other physical/mental activities. When she was five, her mother found that she was interested in mental games. And so, while most other kids ran about and played, Ryleigh could be found in high places with her nose buried in a book, usually a grade level or two above her own. Even in school, she had nicknames of 'Little Know-It-All', but she didn't let those bullies stop her in her thirst for knowledge.

When she was 10 and on a field trip with her third-grade class to the local caverns, she had her first monster sighting: that of a hellhound slinking into the shadows. Ryleigh merely noted the presence of the creature, but didn't tell anyone, immediately going for her research help when she got home afterwards. When she was 11, and in fifth grade, she had her first monster attack. Ryleigh was attacked by a Giant Ant, and luckily for her, she had a stick nearby, and stabbed it into the armor, giving her plenty of time to flee back home. She survived that attack, and told her father the same day. Kristopher signed her up for martial arts classes to pair with her gymnastic and dance classes, and she found herself thriving with all three of her after-school activities and all the school involvement as well.

Over the following months, she found herself being more attacked by various monsters from mythology, and making friends with a kid who used crutches almost all the time named Alexandre. After one such attack, she was immediately pulled by Alexandre to her parents' house, and found herself being explained everything. Her parents gave her permission to be taken to Camp Half-Blood, and she soon found herself flying to New York. Landing a day later, Ryleigh was driven to Half-Blood Hill, luckily not pursued by any monsters, and crossed the borders. She has been at Camp for almost two days so far, and was finally claimed by her mother, Athena, which didn't come as a surprise for her.

No more playin' puppet; no more strings attached

Ryleigh is, to say the least, a girl full of paradoxes. At first, she is one of the harshest and coldest people you'll ever meet. Every word has a double meaning for her, dripping in vinegar and honey as she tears people apart. Of course, this is all a natural layer of defense she has put up through the years that she had been hurt. As people get to know her, Ryleigh drops her sarcastic side to reveal the kindest, gentlest, and most helpful girl that anyone knows. She knows how to play people to get things that she wants or needs, and she doesn't have any qualms about playing relationships to get things accomplished.

However, the more she warms up to people, the more paradoxes begin to come out. She really enjoys reading and writing, especially by herself, but absolutely hates talking in large crowds. It's something about feeling... overridden that she hates. The feeling of vulnerability in large crowds that just puts her on edge. Ryleigh is an incredibly intelligent girl. She doesn't know what her IQ is, only that she has a mind for details and memorization. The smallest of details? Doesn't go by without Ryleigh knowing about it.

However, she has a natural knack for playing pranks... Some of her best involve things that shouldn't even be exploding... like cookies. Yeah, don't ask. She carries a bag with her all the time that has all sorts of pranking materials and random-arse things in it, including huge textbooks. She will not hesitate to unleash hell upon people who hurt her or her friends.

  1. Children of Athena have the ability to see each specific pressure point on another person and are proficient at striking them in order to immobilize or greatly pain another person for a short time.
  2. Children of Athena are changed during battle and become stronger and quicker in combat than a normal human could achieve.
  1. Children of Athena are able to generate loose materials or manipulate any loose materials found around them to weave a wall. The wall obstructs the view of anyone facing them, and also blunts attacks. However, it does not stop attacks entirely, it is only capable of slowing the attacks down (possibly say that the wall will cut like a bunch of woven stuff or something ~ spiders and what not).
  2. Children of Athena, using their inclinations of battle and strategy, can most of the time, predict the course of action an opponent attacking them will take, and and are able to dodge or parry accordingly. However, if the prediction is wrong this may cost the child of Athena dearly.
  1. Children of Athena have the ability to empower strength and intelligence upon nearby allies and instil fear upon nearby enemies with a deafening war cry for a short time.
  2. Children of Athena have minor telepathic abilities, making them able to telepathically communicate with their allies and read the current thoughts of an opponent’s mind. But this mind reading does not always work.
  3. Children of Athena through telepathy are able to alter the moods of a person or group of people for a short time. They are able to make an ally calmer and more courageous or an opponent panicked or depressed. Once a target has suffered from this power, they become resistant to it for a moderate amount of time.
  4. Children of Athena can curse an opponent, temporarily ruining their ability to formulate battle strategies for a short time. With this curse, the target would only think up rather silly and quite awful strategies. This gives the user a chance to attack or flee. Ex: The target would fake a heart attack and fall back on the ground, thinking the user would believe it and give up on the fight.
  1. Children of Athena have the innate ability of hyper-cognition. They are able to perform more complex mental operations than a normal human could achieve. They are able to process thoughts and learning far quicker than others with little cognitive effort.
  2. Children of Athena have innate battle reflexes which allows them to fight and dodge quickly.
  3. Children of Athena are able to communicate with and command owls. If the user gives too many commands, the owls will become frustrated and disobey.
Month Powers (3/6/9 Locked)
  1. Children of Athena, due to the strength of their minds, are gifted with the ability of clairvoyance. They are able gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses, for example beyond their normal sensory range or when unable to use their physical senses. Some techniques of clairvoyance are veridical dreaming, scrying and parasight.
  2. Children of Athena can curse an opponent with severe stupidity and ignorance, temporarily stripping them of their intelligence and knowledge. The curse can cause an opponent to lose their common sense, fighting skill and tactical abilities. The target could even be unsure how to swing a sword or use their powers properly. After a short time, the curse will wear off and the target will regain their intelligence and knowledge. Their minds will be resistant to further use of the curse for a moderate time and the user will be substantially drained.
  3. Children of Athena can turn into a normal sized owl of whichever species they select for a short period of time, allowing them flight. The user has the option to grow into a giant owl, it can be up to 2 to 3 times bigger than their size as a human. This will make the transformation more draining. As a giant owl, the user would be twice as fast as a normal owl mid-flight, be able to transport allies and possess a very loud scream. After the transformation, they are extremely drained. Unable to move and they could possibility faint.
