For years, the gods and goddesses have watched on while the humans developed through the years, as they advanced both personally and technologically. Lately one thing has become quite clear to them; humans have a habit of being very irresponsible when it comes to their environment and the animals that reside within that environment. They came to a decision, fearing for the safety and longevity of their sacred animals, they have decided to create a special group of nymphs to help protect their sacred animals.
These nymphs’ life forces are each attached to the animal they are a nymph of; if that animal becomes extinct, the nymph will die. The gods considered the fact that here are thousands of animals and creatures that roam the earth, but not wanting to over extend their powers, they have decided to only concern themselves with the animals that are sacred to them.
When they aren’t out in the world helping other nymphs and helping to protect their animals, they spend their time at camp.
December 2012
On 19 December, 2012, Hecate watched over the mortal world, thinking there weren’t enough dog spirits, so she decided to create Shu. But before Shu was brought to the mortal world, Shu begged Hecate to teach him more about the mortal world, afraid of what was out there. Hecate saw the boy’s fear, and let him.
She taught him how mortals acted and their ways. Hecate told Shu that the mortal world was “full of mystery and excitement”, making Shu curious of mortal world even more. Hecate told him what his tasks in his life were and why he was created. Shu was grateful that Hecate created him and was teaching him about the mortal world. Hecate said he had a lot to learn, and she would love to help him
August 2014
Throughout the past 2 years, Hecate had been teaching him, showing him his objectives, and Shu had a mentor - Ares. Shu looked up to Ares for bravery and strength. Unfortunately, Ares wasn’t a very good mentor. He told Shu the opposite of what the mortal world was like - disappointing and full of shit.
Hecate announced to Shu that she would be leaving for the mortal world to create more of her demigod children, saying she will be gone for a while. She left Ares in charge of Shu and Hecate said to Ares that Shu was mature enough to leave for the mortal world to protect the dogs. Even though Ares said Shu will get it done, Ares had other plans for Shu.
Once Hecate left, Ares assigned tasks to do for Shu around Mount Olympus, specifically delivering items to Ares’ lover, Aphrodite. Shu questioned the tasks, but told Shu it would strengthen him. Iffy about the tasks, he complied. He got whatever Aphrodite wanted from Ares, as Ares took all the credit. When Shu couldn’t find the item requested by Aphrodite, he got a replacement. Ares scolded him and became disappointed in him. As the months dreaded on, the more Shu missed Hecate. He was growing afraid of Ares, since Aphrodite’s requests became more difficult and punishing Shu more harshly.
November 2014
Ares reported to Shu that Aphrodite wanted a special item, something she grew to love and want - Hecate’s Twin Torches. Shu refused profoundly, but Ares threatened Shu. Shu still refused, so Ares forcefully slapped him to motivate him, knocking Shu to the ground, leaving him red cheeked and almost crying.
Ares threatened him that if he did not give what Aphrodite wanted, he’d give him hell to pay. Avoiding danger, Shu complied. As Shu was approaching Hecate’s Twin Torches, Hecate appeared. Shu smiled and when to greet Hecate when Shu noticed Hecate was upset and Ares standing behind her.
Hecate said that Shu had disobeyed, not only Hecate, but Ares, saying Ares gave Shu tasks for the mortal world, but refused to do it, and Shu was about to steal the Twin Torches. Shu pleaded innocent, but Hecate trusted Ares more. And because of this, as punishment, Hecate cursed Shu so he cannot tell what is real and what is an illusion, and banished him to the mortal world where he must find camp Half Blood.
April 2015
As Shu was on his journey onto finding Camp Half-Blood, he encountered a few demigods and saytrs who were heading to Camp Half-Blood, and asked if Shu could tag along. They agreed and they all went searching for camp together.
There was a son of Demeter named Alexander Mitch, a daughter of Persephone named Ryder Hayden, a son of Hecate named Wyatt Daniel, and the saytrs names were Lindsey and Shina. The group had to deal with Shu’s illusions, explaining Hecate had cursed him. Wyatt threw a fit, saying his mother would never do such a thing, but Shu said that he knew Hecate more than Wyatt.
Upset, Wyatt went off to get fresh air, and Ryder chased after him, but couldn’t find him. The group decided to rest of the night, deciding to find Wyatt in the morning since he was nowhere to be found and made camp near a cave. Shu felt guilty, but Lindsey, who was the closest to Wyatt, explained he gets overly defensive and didn’t need to worry about it, expaining Wyatt was tough and can fend for himself.
In the middle of night, the group awoke to screaming and howling. Since Shu had a greater sense of hearing, he led the group to the screaming. Once arrived, they found Wyatt’s lifeless body, covered in blood, bites, and scars. A few hellhounds appeared from the shadows, blood on their claws and teeth, and attacked the group, but Shu saw a large scorpion headed towards him. Afraid, the boy shifted to husky form, and ran. He couldn’t shake the scorpion off his tail, no matter how fast he ran or what direction he went in. After a few minutes of running he was growing fatigue. Feeling light headed and his vision growing blurry, the last thing he heard and saw was his group shouting his name and running towards him before going unconscious.
When he awoke, he was in the camp’s infirmary and Alex was sitting beside him, a bandage wrapped around his head. He explained to Shu that after he ran, he and the group killed the hellhounds and chased after Shu. There was no giant scorpion chasing after him and Alex did confirm that Wyatt was, indeed, dead by the hellhounds that attacked the group, and not apart of Shu’s illusions. Shu felt guilty about what happened, swearing to himself to never let his friends be injured ever again.
