Marzia Salvatore grew up in Tuscany, Italy for most of her life. Since she was a little girl, she had a passion for traveling to new places. After she had graduated from college, Marzia pursued her dreams and traveled all over the world. Marzia traveled to exotic places like Korea, Iceland, Russia, and France. Whilst in Greece, her beauty caught the eye of a certain Greek God. After seeing her tour the Acropolis, Thantos followed her, intrigued. After following Marzia for the whole afternoon, Thanatos (who was staged as a man named Cyril Karpusi) invited Marzia out to dinner for the night. She accepted, and was dazed by the handsome man. The two adults were close instantaneously. Shortly, Marzia discovered she was pregnant with the god's child, but he left her with no explanation. Marzia was crushed when she found out the man she thought was going to be her husband left without warning. But she concluded that she had to move on for her child's sake. Marzia also decided to take residence in America to look for a job to support the two of them.
Spencer Giovanni Salvatore was born on June 4, 1997 in Manhattan. Marzia owes a lot to her mother, who helped her raise the child while she worked as a waitress in the city. He grew up in a small but cozy apartment in Lower Manhattan. Spencer used to often watch shows that weren't suitable for his young age while growing up, thus explaining the colorful language he uses. As for his crankiness--he's always been like that. He was never really naughty, but quite grouchy. While working at the restaurant, Marzia met a man named Charlie McDonnell. McDonnell was a very successful businessman, and also very charming. Charlie was captured by Marzia's beauty, and chatted with her every time he visited the restaurant. Soon, his trips to the restaurant were only to visit the beautiful waitress. Chats became meetings outside of work, meetings became dates, and two years later when Spencer was three, they married.
It was a very big step for the small family. Within six months, Spencer's grandmother returned to Italy seeing as she didn't need to care for Spencer. Marzia and Spencer moved from their apartment in Lower Manhattan to a mansion thirty minutes away form the bustling city. His mother's last name changed, Spencer ditched public school for a private school in Brooklyn, and Marzia no longer needed to keep her job at the restaurant thanks to Charlie's success. Spencer was neutral about his step-father, and never felt much dislike towards him. The next couple of years were peaceful for the Salvatore-McDonnell family. That was until the first monster attack. It was the summer and Spencer was thirteen. He was attacked by a hellhound early in the morning in his small town, waiting for one of the butlers to come pick him up after a party. Luckily, a demigod attended the party as well, and saw the beast about to pounce. With a sword from Camp, she slayed it, but didn't bother explaining to Spencer about the attack. She just killed it and left. Spencer luckily escaped without even a scratch, but confused. A pretty girl had just killed what seemed like something that seeped out of a movie. Spencer dismissed this as plain old hallucination from exhaustion. However, the second monster attack proved him wrong. It was just before his birthday, about three days prior. He was in the woods, exploring, when another hellhound attacked him. Now he realized that his 'hallucination' from thirteen was indeed real life. A hunter was hunting it down, and when it came into the forest, it picked up Spencer's scent. The hunter was able to kill it, but Spencer was badly injured. Unlike the first demigod that saved him, she was more than willing to help him back to his house and explain to his parents. His parents were petrified, and had immediate plans to send Spencer to Camp that summer. However, that was delayed when Spencer's private school announced that they were to be a part of the 2013 Model UN. His parents were thrilled when they heard his school was participating in the Model UN, and Spencer was ecstatic about the idea of going to the event because of his love for history. His parents pushed aside the plans of going to camp later this summer to have Spencer go to the Model UN. Spencer chose to represent Italy, his mother's country of origin.
The first day was full of meeting new people, grouping off into who would represent which countries in the Model UN, and all sorts of various activities. By the end of the second day, many had made new friends and things were going along swimmingly. As evening wore on, danger loomed on the horizon, a danger they had no idea was coming. Unbeknownst to many, due to the large event, many that had come from other countries were actually demigods. Because of so many, in one place, at one time, unprotected by any magical barrier, the scent was powerful.
A group of huntresses had been tracking a lydian drakon for awhile, not sure what had caught its attention or why. They momentarily lost it's scent coming into New York, and stopped by camp to get more help, a small group of campers dispatched to work with the huntresses. As the lydian drakon neared the campus, it's hard to say what the mortals saw, some say they saw a tornado ripping through the sides of buildings, others said they felt like they were going through a giant earth quake. Regardless, the thirty or so demigods that had unknowingly been brought together, were about to face a fight they'd never forget.
Some in the group had been to camp before, and carried weapons, some still hadn't fully realised they were a demigod, or what it meant to be one. As seconds felt like an eternity, fate would not be so kind to these teenagers, as their scent had not just drawn a lydian drakon, but also the hydra and a few hellhounds. They were soon finding themselves boxed in, and fighting for their very lives. When all hope seemed lost, the huntresses and campers arrived, and being a bit more prepared, and catching the monsters by surprise, they were soon able to turn the tide of the attack. Unfortunately not without the cost of a few lives.
As they all re-grouped and started to care for the wounded among them, the group that had come from camp decided it would be best for them all to get back to camp as soon as possible, where they would be protected by its borders. Some were easily convinced as they'd been to camp before a couple of year's previously for summer's and holidays, other's were a bit more scared, and unsure if they should go, but not wanting to risk being attacked again, they agreed after being assured they could contact their parents safely from camp's borders. They gathered the dead and wounded, and headed to camp.
