Camp Half-Blood Role Playing Wiki

Hey guys, this isn't an official Lilith's Letter blog, and so it won't be under the Lilith's Letter Blog category since it doesn't contain information essential to the campaign as a whole (Edit: In retrospect, it does, so it'll be in that category now). Instead this is simply a status update where I'll explain how I think things are going. So far, we've been making very good progress, a number of teams have made it relatively close to the conclusion of their quests and many others aren't far behind. We have run into a few issues, though, which I'll address here.

The largest of these seems to have to do with people joining and dropping quests already in progress. I realize that this probably wouldn't wouldn't be so much of problem if we hadn't recently undergone so many community issues, and so it's not something I'm going to directly criticize. I'd just like to remind users that, assuming that they are able to come to a consensus (everyone agrees), they have permission to kick another character from the quest. When a character is kicked, he or she will have to be roleplayed as having left for some reason by other quest members. This should always happen unless the users decide that his or her actions in the quest can be removed without significant detriment to the quest and continuity of the story.

Secondly we have been having some problems with misconceptions of leadership. Lilith's Letter quests have NO official quest leader. Anyone, assuming that the other members respect them enough, can assume command if the others will follow. Everyone has the capacity to make their own decisions and if one person messes up, it's something you all have to deal with. Part of the point of this campaign is to allow people to make decisions and experience the consequences of those decisions, which brings me onto the next point.

A number of characters on quests have been acting oddly, as in they are not making rational decisions characteristic of the situations they find themselves in. I'm not going to pick out specific examples, but we've had a number of attempts to do things that would not only be impossible, but garner significant unwanted attention. We've also had some issues when dealing with mortals, or people who are perceived to be mortals. It seems that once demigods are removed from Camp or the BC where everyone is more or less equal, the power goes straight to their heads and they loose all possible respect for anyone who isn't a demigod. If that's part of your characters' nature, or the mortal is being unfriendly, I have no complaint. What does bother me is how characters are suddenly turning into pretentious assholes with no concern for the rights of other people. Again, for Broken Covenant Characters, I totally understand if you're a member of the Opus Superum or another faction that disregards or is openly hostile towards mortals, but two out of three Factions are NOT this way, and so there's really very little excuse to go throwing mortals around like pinballs. Of course, since this is a decision driven campaign, you can feel free to do these things, but remember that your actions will have consequences. If you want to go out of your way to be a douche, you can, but that doesn't mean that the people on the receiving end won't react accordingly.

Another problem, though a much smaller one, involves people finding clues etc. themselves. I'd like to clarify here, that you are perfectly able to SEARCH for clues, but the nature of what you find is where I come in and insert what's necessary. So, you can write in that your character searches behind a curtain, but I write in what you find there. Plus, not every curtain or potential hiding place will have something in it. You're perfectly capable of going in entirely the wrong direction with your quest. I'll do my best to get you back on track, but don't expect to find decisive evidence somewhere totally random.

Finally I come to one of the most important parts of this blog wherein I make a straight up request. Keeping track of, and roleplaying on, twelve separate pages can be quite difficult at times. This, paired with mid term essays and tests can be pretty miserable. As such, I'm going to be relying upon you guys to tell me where I need to edit. If you feel that your quest is nearing a decisive point, just note it below in the comments section, and I'll divert extra attention to it. Also feel free to leave me messages on my personal talk page. But right now I'm extremely pressed for time and so I won't be able to do as much on the quests as I may like. So, please don't pull out the pitchforks when I don't edit for a day or two on your specific quest. If anyone has questions about this blog or the campaign in general, my talk page is open as I mentioned just before.

Thanks for your understanding and continued participation!
