Selwyn Livingston was a major activist in women's rights, especially when it came to rape. Being born as a produce of rape himself and nearly having his maternal family decide to abort him without his mother's consent, he found it to be in his very instinct to help with women's suffrage. Day after day he campaigned for the right for women to decide what happens when they're raped, not relatives or the rapist themselves in some circumstances. This is ultimately what attracted Leto. The two met in a bar in Valencia whilst Selwyn was on holiday there. They immediately hit it off and the night just progressed from there.
Returning to Cardiff, Selwyn was ashamed of the one night stand, believing it to be against everything he campaigned for. Eventually, for ease of mind, he blamed it on the alcohol and the adrenaline of being in another country. After a month or so, he was able to forget about it and continue his politically challenging life. Alas, the memories would come rushing back to him because after four months of being in Wales again there was a knock at his door and, standing there, was the woman from the one night stand - instead of a glass of alcohol in her hand, however, a bundle of cloth was found with a small face peeking out of it. The woman explained her identity and handed the baby to him, telling him to look after her and to raise her to be the perfect rebellious woman. Seeing that he had no other choice, Selwyn took in his daughter and named her Valencia after the city in which he and Leto had met.
With his job Selwyn was able to provide Valencia with a comfortable lifestyle in her early years - giving her near enough anything she could ever want as a young toddler and gave her all of the attention in the world. He even got her a small German Shepherd puppy who he named Tudor for her. The family unit of three was very comfortable until Valencia started school.
In their district of Cardiff resided a rough family, the Llelwynn family, who were known to be attached to major crimes within the area. Valencia befriended the youngest son, Osian, and the two became inseparable before long. With Osian being a son of Phoebe himself, neither knew that their friendship would span of that beyond their education. While Valencia acquainted herself with a rougher family, Selwyn fell in love with the daughter of an incredibly rich man and, by the time Valencia was six, the two were married. Before long, Selwyn's new wife - Maria - was pregnant with twin boys.
All of a sudden, the attention shifted from Valencia onto Maria and when the twins - Bryne and Kyffin - were born the attention depleted even further, leaving Valencia to associate herself with Tudor and Osian more and more. As she neared the end of primary school, it became clear that Osian was to follow in his family's footsteps which caused warning bells to ring in Selwyn and Maria's heads as they did their best to cut Valencia off from him. When this failed, due to Valencia's persistence, the two eventually gave up and slowly devoted more and more of their time to their twin sons. Which, as sad as Valencia now reflects it to be, was fine by her at the time.
Arguably, Valencia's first monster attack was more traumatic than most demi-childrens'. Why? Whilst she had a hellhound attacking her, a harpy was attacking Osian. The two were out in a wooded area on the outskirts of Cardiff on a trip out with Osian's family. While they had originally been with the main group, the two soon got bored and wandered off which is where the monsters inevitably attacked them. The two were defenceless, had it not been for a small group of satyrs and nymphs that resided in the depths of the forest. The two forces attacked the monsters whilst Valencia and Osian made their get away, telling everyone about it and consequently sounding like children who'd just been on an 'adventure.' As the group were having lunch, Valencia and Osian made their way back to the area where they were attacked, greeted by the same group of satyrs and nymphs who presented them with a celestial bronze sword each. They gave no other instruction than 'practice,' before disappearing back into the depths. From that day on, Valencia and Osian began to practice sword fighting in their spare time until the two of them eventually, by their fifteenth birthdays, were able to both take down a monster together.
The worst attack happened when the pair was sixteen. Both had been at Valencia's house when two large hellhounds broke into the basement where they were. With their swords not immediately beside them, the two watched as the hellhounds advanced on them. Valencia, closing her eyes, feared for the worst but was met with a whimper. Opening her eyes she saw Tudor being mauled by one of the hellhounds which had allowed Osian to get his sword and kill the first hellhound. Wanting revenge for her dead dog, Valencia grabbed her sword and assisted Osian in slaying the other monster. Later that evening Selwyn and Maria came home to found their basement and a portion of the ground floor to be trashed. In rage, Selwyn threw Valencia out of the home and told her to never return. Promptly Osian took her to America on a gap year to explore.
Sometime from leaving Wales and arriving in America Valencia and Osian had embarked in a relationship which unknowingly would result in the birth of a son not even a year later. The two explored the US from coast to coast and whilst returning to New York City to take them back to Cardiff the two stumbled upon The Sanctuary after deciding to explore the mountains. Whilst Valencia wasn't too bothered about any of the ideals, Osian fell in love with the ideology of Opus Superum and joined, forcing Valencia to follow suit. Honestly not agreeing with any of them at all, Valencia eventually settled upon Civitas Popularis as she found it's basis to be among the least destructive of the factions. Within a year Valencia gave birth to a son, Ianto, which she promptly gave up for adoption at the first chance she got without telling Osian. At the Broken Covenant she met Klaus Kyu who she started a friendship with which progressed quickly into something along the lines of best friendness.
The two remained in the Broken Covenant for two years, following on missions and doing their best to make good names for themselves there until Osian ultimately got bored. Like before, he forced Valencia to leave alongside him and the two went in search for a new cause. Unbeknownst to her, Klaus had trailed along to protect her - getting negative vibes from Osian. The couple eventually stumbled upon The Spire and with it the Champions of Othrys. Again, Osian fell in love with the ideology of the group and forced Valencia to join with him. While they were happy there, Valencia's main purpose was to be the girlfriend of Osian and nothing more. When Klaus revealed he had joined too, she began to find a different purpose and the two of them discussed on how they longed to be somewhere away from The Spire yet the fear of Osian prevented them from doing so.
Recently Osian has committed suicide leaving Valencia alone with nobody but Klaus. Scared, with the talk of an impending attack on Camp and the Broken Covenant, Valencia doesn't know what she wants to do any more.
