Vanessa Vilkas
Daughter Of Boreas
(This Character Belongs to BloomOfFairyTail)

Northern-Lights
This user's character is a child of Boreas.

Appearance

I have platinum blonde hair that can look like white depending on the light, pale green eyes and a pale complexion since I was born from the snow and made to be like it

Personality

Vanessa is a great actress. She actually faked most of her "nice" attitude just so her stepfather would shut up about how bratty she could be. She actually masks a deep hate for a lot of people, mainly her stepfather for making her mother turn against her. She used to be spoiled, being the only girl between the siblings and when her mother had another kid, she was burning with jealousy. No one actually noticed her despising most people she acted friendly with and she hated it. She always wanted someone to notice her act, and asking her to stop and be herself. Vanessa had an eating disorder when she was 13, another fact no one found out about. She clings to her siblings as the only people in the world who could understand her, but after some weeks in camp she noticed not even they knew her. Furious, she dropped her act. She became the cold, sarcastic and hateful girl she was inside her head all these years, not caring if people hated her anymore.

History

Keneva and Valek were deported from Lithuania during World War I. They fell in love while imprisoned in labor camps. Eventually, they were released from the labor camp and settled in America, where Keneva gave birth to the Vilkas siblings's grandparents, who later gave birth to Viktoria Vilkas. The siblings's grandfather started a successful business that manufactured weapons, so they're filthy rich.

Viktoria Vilkas was rather beautiful, as well as a talented artist. While studying at Harvard, she caught the eye of Apollo (or some other god) and they had a brief affair. When Mykolas was born, Viktoria panicked. She wasn't willing to drop out of college to raise him, but she couldn't bear to give him up for adoption. Eventually, she decided to send him to live with her sister, who raised Mykolas until he was seven. On Mykolas's seventh birthday, Viktoria sent him off to a boarding school in England. Shortly after Viktoria finished college, she met Hades and they had an affair, resulting in Auris's birth. She raised Auris until he was six, then sent him off to boarding school in France. A year later, she gave birth to yet another kid - Nathan, a son of Phobos. Viktoria sent Nathan off to a boarding school in Spain.

Viktoria started a career as a graphic designer and photographer, traveling around the world. While in Romania, she adopted Justas and gave birth to Vanessa - a daughter of Boreas - two years later. She kept Justas and Vanessa with her, as she didn't have enough money to send the two of them off to boarding school as well, and she wanted to keep some of her kids with her. A while later, she married Mark Whittings, a wealthy politician and gave birth to Jason. Mark always tolerated Justas and Vanessa, and they got along fairly well. However, the siblings detested their stepbrother, Jason, who was a spoiled brat. He constantly threw tantrums and got the demigods in trouble.

Vanessa grew up hearing about her siblings, and eventually decided to organize a family reunion. She sent letters to her brothers, asking them to come visit their family in Maine on Thanksgiving. They agreed. However, the scent of demigods attracted a manticore, which attacked the family. The mortals couldn't see through the mist, and assumed that the manticore was a large bear. Jason, being the idiot that he was, attempted to take on the manticore, which easily killed him. Nathan, who had been carrying a celestial bronze dagger with him just in case (the story of how he got the dagger is explained below, in Nathan's section) stabbed the manticore, eventually killing it after a long and bloody fight.

Viktoria and Mark were distraught about Jason's death. Viktoria, who knew that the siblings were demigods, blamed Jason's death on them, accusing them of luring the manticore to their house. Mad with grief, Viktoria and Mark kicked the siblings out of the house. The siblings then split up and went their separate ways.

Vanessa became depressed when that happened. She was lonely and missing her family terribly. She took a bus to St. John but slept through the ride ending up in Quebec. Completely lost, her father found her and brought her to his palace. There he explained to her about her siblings and herself. He said they were probably on their way to Camp, knowing it or not (he is a wind god after all). He offered her to stay with him and become one of his Boreads, but she refused, saying that if her family was meeting again in a safe place, she was going there too. He understood and gave her a blue umbrella and told her that the tips had needles that when she spun it quickly, they flew and hit her target, freezing their skin/muscles with a light frost, so they are just too cold to move fast, that lasts 20 or more minutes. She left the palace, guided by her father’s chilly winds. She got to camp after being attacked by monsters about 5 times, defending herself with the umbrella but never fighting them since she had no idea how to.

Powers

  • Children of Boreas have the ability to create gusts of icy wind which slow the movements of all effected by them as well as carrying small, sharp blades of ice which can tear into an unarmored opponent.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to call upon a focused ice storm which freezes a small area into solid ice, trapping anyone in the area within it; this effect does not last long.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to create a dome shaped torrent of wind, roughly two or three times the size of the user, which can be used to block attacks for a very short time.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to create a small tornado, about the size of the user, which can be used to block projectile attacks for a short time.
  • Children of Boreas are stronger in the cold.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to hover or fly, however, the longer they fly the more it drains them.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to turn pure water into ice at will using a cold breeze.
  • Children of Boreas have the ability to call upon a massive snow flurry which obstructs view and lower the body temperature of all that are susceptible.
  • Children of Boreas are able to withstand cold temperatures.
  • Children of Boreas are often ambidextrous, a trait they share with Notus' children.
