Powers

Offensive

  1. Children of Poseidon can fire a powerful blast of water from their hands, equivalent to that of a fire hose, which evaporates after a short time.
  2. Children of Poseidon have the ability to conjure and freeze small amounts of water into durable ice weapons, which can be used for combat; however, only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it. They can also make small non-combative objects out of ice.

Defensive

  1. Children of Poseidon can create an area around themselves that inflicts others with intense seasickness, making them dizzy and nauseous for as long as they remain inside. The user must keep their focus on maintaining the effect for the duration.
  2. Children of Poseidon can turn their body to water for a very short time, letting an attack pass harmlessly through them. This can cause extreme dehydration with repeated use.

Passive

  1. Children of Poseidon can breathe, are swifter and more powerful, and can heal slightly faster while underwater.
  2. Children of Poseidon can keep themselves and everything they touch dry in the water, unless they choose to become wet.
  3. Children of Poseidon can survive falling from any altitude as long as they land in water, and can go as deep into the ocean as they desire without any effects from the cold or water pressure.
  4. Children of Poseidon can communicate with and command equestrian animals, as well as all creatures that dwell in the sea.
  5. Children of Poseidon are innately less inhibited by severe wind and precipitation.

Supplementary

  1. Children of Poseidon have the ability to create minor earthquakes, large enough to knock anyone nearby off their feet, for a few seconds.
  2. Children of Poseidon are able to telekinetically move water at a high rate. The larger amount of water used, the more energy it drains. This can be used on ice, but is much more difficult and draining.
  3. Children of Poseidon are are able summon a specific horse, pegasus, or sea creature directly to their position, regardless of distance. This only works on creatures that they have a strong personal bond with.
  4. Children of Poseidon can calm, strengthen or influence the direction of the winds, though to a much lesser extent than children of Zeus or the anemoi.

3 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Poseidon have the ability to create a torrential rainstorm overhead, which will downpour and cause high winds over a large area. The storm will gradually clear over time, and afterward the user would be substantially drained.

6 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Poseidon are able to shape a semi-living construct out of water, no larger than 3 to 4 times the size of the user, that fights for them for a short time. The user is weakened while the construct is active, and the longer they maintain the it, the more energy it drains.

9 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Poseidon are able to transform their bodies into a state of pure water for a short time, becoming immune to most attacks. The hydrokinetic abilities they already possess are enhanced by this state, and they are capable of covering great distances in an instant while underwater. The user will be extremely drained once the transformation ends, and could possibly faint.

Traits

  1. Children of Poseidon always know their exact coordinates when in water and are able to innately feel the difference between freshwater and saltwater.
  2. Children of Poseidon normally have a love for water, and generally excel at water sports.
  3. Children of Poseidon tend to be favored by animals of the sea.
  4. Children of Poseidon often have a natural affinity for horses and many grow up to become equestrians.

Personality

Vera's a rather spoiled person, having grown up with everything being handed to her from a young age. She's still not used to this whole 'everyone for himself' idea. To that end, she's rather demanding and somewhat impatient. If she wants something, she wants it now, no questions asked. Despite the comfort that she's so used to, Vera's adventurous and always likes to step out of her comfort zone every now and then. Sometimes, a certain curiosity can take her to such happenings. Such things tend to get her in trouble, and Vera is a magnet for trouble. She hates to admit when she needs help, and when she is in trouble, and though she listening to others and fixing their problems, she's a very private person herself.

History

Tamsin Mathieu was a party girl. She traveled everywhere, her life was a continuous strand of excitement. She could afford it, too. Tamsin lived off her father's money, and she lived well. She had a different man at least once every night. Until she met Davey. Davey pulled her in like an anchor to a ship. Ironically, he had said that he was a sailor. She knew he couldn't stay long. But Tamsin was hoping to change his mind. How? She got pregnant. Tamsin had planned on using the baby as an excuse for Davey to stay on land, with her. Instead, it had irritated him. Davey left, only leaving a necklace for the child. Not out of love, but of necessity.

Tamsin tried to hate the child growing in her stomach. It had grown to the point where she couldn't get rid of it. But still, she took responsibility and did everything a pregnant woman should do. She got ultrasounds, prenatal vitamins, the works. Soon, the 'it' grew into a 'she'. The 'she' grew into a name - Vera Thessa Mathieu. Vera for, what else, Vera Wang. Thessa for her father, derived from Theseus. A sailor from old myths. Tamsin had learned to love the child. Overall, she'd do her best for the child. Once Vera was born, she even took a job at her father's company, and took it over in the years to come.

Vera grew up with handmaidens, with nurses and servants. Her life was really good. Vera, really, got everything she wanted. She also had a wild imagination. Things she would make up included being able to breathe underwater. Vera was so intent on the fact that she wasn't making it up. Really, she wasn't. But whenever she tried to show her favorite handmaiden or her mother, they would pull her up in a panic when she got over three minutes. Soon, it didn't matter that they didn't believe her. Vera had grown up. Her unusual imagination was soon proved not to be imagined when they had taken a trip to the beach and was attacked by a strange monster. Vera was confronted by a Telekhine. Of course, she didn't know it at the time. She had seen this monster, and, very simply. freaked out. Vera had gotten lucky, it seems. Her necklace had fallen off at some point and, sensing the danger, revealed itself to be a weapon; After the attack, her mother explained that the necklace came from her father. But she's not sure why it was a weapon.

Vera didn't let the sudden attack defer her love of the sea. In fact, their trips to the beach increased. The attacks continued different things at a time. It was mostly Telekhines, but over time it became hellhounds and other monsters. Vera would eventually learn the names of these creatures, only from research. Then, something big happened when she turned 14. A bottle washed up ashore, only to have Vera find it. Curiously, she opened the letter in the bottle, to be faced with a curious scene; A face she didn't recognize, shiny and staring back at her. It talked to her. Turned out, it was her father, Poseidon. He explained everything, from her abilities to the attacks... and eventually, who he was.

Poseidon told Vera of a camp where she'd be safe. She wouldn't attract any more danger to her mother. Vera had decided to take his word for it, as far-fetched as it seemed. He told her how, and Vera arrived at the camp.
