The life of Nathaniel St. Clair was a long and tragic one. It left him broken and confused - what was his reality and what was all a nightmare? Maybe they were one in the same.
It all started in the year of 1997 when Mariana St. Clair, a local waitress, was work her mid day shift. She lived in the city of Madrid and while her little cafe job didn't get her the biggest house or the nicest cars, she was content with what she had. Mariana was a humble women and it seemed as if every man in the city had their eye's on her. Of course this didn't exclude a certain god of dreams - Morpheus, who came across the women randomly and instantly fell in love. Of course, you can probably guess where the story goes from here. Morphues disguised himself as a mortal and met with Mariana, leading to the two falling into a whirlwind of a romance. Unlike many stories though, this one did not end with a happy ending. Instead, when Mariana became pregnant with their son, Morheus left almost instantly. Of course, Mariana was furious, heart broken, pretty much any feel of despair you could feel but, she rose above it and decided to keep her child and raise him on her own.
Nathaniel's, Mariana's son, childhood wasn't a special one. Like any normal child, he went to school, got a few scrapes and bruises, slept, and a big portion of his time was spent at his mothers job - where he played with many of his cousins who also lived in the city. They had a big family and while they didn't exactly own the restaurant, they all worked there together - sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Things were quite normal for the son of morpheus... that is, until a dangerous group decided to into the city and stir things up.
They were known as Satsujin and they were a clan of Japanese Assassins. Why they were in Madrid? Their target was an uncle of Nathaniel, one who owed the group quiet a bit of money and just waste putting up. While his uncle may have been the target, Nathan seemed to shoulder all of the pain - though, lets not get to ahead of the story.
It was a warm and windy night. Nathan, who was only 9 at the time, was sitting at the counter of the restaurant as his family members went about their normal work routine. The restaurant was rather empty tonight, only one man who was getting ready to leave, not being apart of Nathan's family. It all went by so fast Nathan didn't even know what happened. All he could remember was being sent to through out the trash out back and when he returned, the bodies of his family members laid on the ground dead - a group of 5 people and his uncle being the only ones alive. Nathan couldn't move. His heart was beating so hard that it could have busted out of his chest and his eyes? they were stuck on the sight of his mother with a slit throat. Why was this happening? why had these people done what they had done? Almost as if on Que, one of the group members began to speak.
"This is what happens when you mess with Satsujin... we'll let you live, only to carry the guilty of all your family members dying. This is your fault." It was a women speaking. One with dark black hair that flowed down to her butt, light skin, and eyes that looked almost completely black. When his eye's finally left the sight of his families death, Nathan's eye wandered up and spot the group - anger boiling up inside of him as he did so. His anger boiled up so much that he picked up a kitchen knife and lunge at the one closest to him. Like one would expect, the assassin sensed the attack and turned around in time to catch the boy hand and lift him into the air by it.
"Lookie boss! I caught another one" The masculine man voiced as he grinned wickedly and raised Nathan up higher. Nathan was a bit confused by the mans word, that is until he scanned the area and saw a few of his cousins tied up in the corner. Now that he thought about it, Nathan didn't see any of the younger kids in the pile of dead bodies and somehow that made him feel slightly better but, what were their plans for them?
"He's a bit older for my liking but, he obviously got some killer instincts in him. tie him up and throw him with the others." Just like that, Nathaniel St. Clair's life changed. After the events that played out, Nathan and his cousins were taken by the group that had killed their families - having no idea what was in store for them.
Turns out, the group known as Satsujin were looking for more assassins but, they didn't just hire anyone... No, they took children from the homes of their targets and trained them to be assassins. Putting them through harsh train, where most of the children died, and stripping them of their freedom. It was sick and twisted and it's exactly what happened to Nathan.
He had no idea how long it had been since his families deaths. Minutes? Hours? Days? He was pretty sure only a few hours had pass but, being blind folded and passing out from exhaustion, he couldn't be to sure. All he could process was what was happening in the moments. It was all happening so fast and suddenly, he was tossed out of a van and surrounded by what seemed to be a training camp - much like a military camp but, rather than guns and bullets, there were swords and other blades. Nathan was confused and like most would expect, terrified so all he did was sit on the dirt floor and wait. It didn't take long for someone to walk up and began to speak
"Welcome..." The tall built man said as he examined all the children before him, most cry and whimpering. "To get straight to the point. You have all been taken from your families who are probably dead and will be put through a vigorous training system to make you into our own little assassins." A small smile cracked on his lips as he said this. "Now of course, with how dangerous our training are, most of you will not survive but, that is none of our concern. If you die... it just means you are weak and do not deserve to live in this world." From there he went on to explain that the children would be given weapons and would have to venture into the forest from one end and have to make their way through and come out on the other side... alive of course. Nathan, who was still in a state of shock only picked up on few things, hearing the mention of hell hounds and other Greek monsters. Apparently, Satsujin knew a little something about the Greek world?
Without knowing exactly how, Nathan made it out of the forest alive along with a few other children and one of his family members being one of them. The scenes of his time in the forest flashed over and over in his mind. Encountering week and small monsters suck as baby hell hounds, harpys, and Stymphalian birds and somehow either making a run for it or killing the monster with the CB weapon he was provided with by Satsujin when it was distracted by another child. Nathan played it smart and hide, waiting for the right moments to either make a run for it or attack and land a lucky final blow. As if seeing his family's dead bodies weren't enough, now he actually had to watch as horrific beast ripped his younger cousins and other young children apart. Him running while the monsters were busy was his only means of survival and it tore away at his sanity.
Once the final child had returned, there were a total of 12 children left over - 12 left over from 48. It was from here that they were formally trained by a teacher with a weapon of their choice, in which Nathaniel chose a Celestial Bronze Katana. It was also here that they were told about the greek world and how a small handful of the members of Satsujin were actually demigods. It was quite hard to believe but, considering his situation what was he to do? It would also explain the monsters he saw out in the forest. Whatever he might or might not believe about the Greek world, Nathaniel was in the situation he was in and nothing could be helped. He went through years of training, both physically and mentally. Somewhere along the line, he was even pitted against the other children and from the 12 that survived from the forest, only 6 were left over. Nathan's cousin was not one of these kids as they were both thrown in a match together and Nathan was forced to kill him - it was either him or Nathan...
By the time his training was done, Nathan was 17 years of age and while he was attacked by the occasion monster every year or so, those were the least of his problems. He underwent mission to kill person after person and beast after beast, his target ranging from defenseless people to the most richest and Nathan was trained not to care. It wasn't till his training was over though that his job became even more gruesome. Hot only did his job require him to kill people, it also required him to torture them - both physically and mentally. Nathan was to far gone by this point to even stop himself. He believed this was he had already died and gone straight to hell.
years past, more monster attacks occurred, and his job continued as it always did. Nothing changed and by this point, he was 19 years of age, almost reaching his 20th birthday. Nathaniel, by this point, had lost all hope and didn't expect any redemption for his soul.
"You target is a young women with a high title in Paris, France. Her father thought it'd be a good idea to steal money from us and even kill some of our members so, in return... we'll kill his daughter and anyone he holds dear." Some leader from Satsujin had voiced while looking over the squad who had come to be known as Satsugi-tai - the squad made up of Nathan and the other children who managed to survive the years of torture. The mission was like any other and without needing any more information, Nathan and his squad set out.
It was handled like any other mission and anyone, aside from the person who wronged Satsujin, who was in the home were killed without question. That is, until Nathan came across the French man's daughter and he froze in his tracks. She was beautiful... Her hair a head of light brown curls that flowed down her shoulders like a waterfall. Her skin was light and fair and her eyes... They were a light blue color and Nathan seemed to get lost in them the more he stared into them.
"Hello Nathaniel..." The girl spoke and this caught Nathan off guard even more.
"Ho-How do you know my name." The words stumbled out of his mouth as his once raise katana now hung low. "Who are you?" He continued to ask as he gazed at the women. "My name is Psyche, and i'v disguised myself as your target... i wanted to meet you." If Nathan could be more shocked than he already was, he would be - now he was just confused. Why had Psyche, a goddess, come to meet him and at a time like this?
"I'v heard many stories of you... From your father Morpheus himself... He isn't very happy with how you turned out but, he understands that this is not your fault." Nathaniel listened intently. Hearing those words seem to break a piece of the emotional wall that Nathan had built up. "Nathaniel, your father couldn't help you escape these murderers for reasons that don't matter at this moment... just know, i'm here to help you now." Psyche paused, watching the demigod and waiting for his response.
"It's true... I wouldn't have chosen this path if i had a choice." Nathan began to say, his head now hung low and his eyes fixed on the stone marble floor. "But i'm just like them now... I'm a murderer and there is nothing even you, a goddess, can do to save me. How can i live with myself knowing that i'v killed countless people..." It was here that the goddess set her hand on the mans cheek and smiled. "Your father asked for my help and i agreed because i believe your soul has a path towards redemption. Unlike your fellow Satsujin members who are in this for fun. Even though you've killed countless people, your soul has always bared the guilt of their deaths, unlike everyone else." It was true. While he tried to keep him emotions locked up and not care for the people he killed, Nathan couldn't help but feel guilty and sorry for his victims. His heart carried the pain of all his victum and that's what set Nathan apart from other Satsujin members. He cared and they didn't, the son of Morpheus even went as far as helping some people get away whenever he could - though it wasn't very often.
After the conversation with Psyche she offered him an escape route. "While i won't be able to remove the pain and suffering you caused, i can help you get away from this life - you won't have to work for these bastards again." A small smile cracked on Nathan's face as he heard the goddess. "Whatever you can do, i'll accept." For a moment, the son of Morpheus expected Psyche to kill him and leave. Be done with him. "You can get thouse thoughts out of your head... i'm not here to kill you." She answered as if reading his mind, which she probably was. It was from this point that Psyche began to explain her plan.
It was a simple one but, it would definitely be effective. Her plan was to change Nathaniel appearance, at random, and then transport him to camp where he could hide out and hopefully start a new life. Nathan fully accepted this plan and let the goddess do her work. By the end, Nathaniel appearance greatly resembled that of Jonas Queen a son of Tyche. In fact, they looked exactly the same. When Nathan asked why, Psyche simply said that the change in his appearance was at random and that's what the end results came to be.
Once saying there goodbyes and Nathan giving his thanks, Psyche transported him to Camp Half-Blood where the man was claimed as a son of Morpheus.

Children of Morpheus have the ability to create dream-like illusions of attacks so realistic that they are most likely to catch an enemy off guard; however, if they miss they are left vulnerable to counterattack.
Children of Morpheus can absorb the dreams of others for a short time, removing their memories of them and empowering the user to be faster and stronger. Once the enhancement subsides, the target will remember their dreams if they wish to do so and are immune to further use of this power for a moderate time.
Children of Morpheus have the ability to make someone think they are seeing their worst nightmares brought to life for a short time; attempting to scare them into not attacking. The user cannot attack while they are using this power.
Children of Morpheus have the ability to cause a person to day dream as if the child of Morpheus was a friend, causing the person to no longer desire to attack them for a short time. If the user attacks while the day dream is in effect, it will instantly stop working, so the power is purely defensive.
Children of Morpheus often receive the current thoughts of people in the surrounding area while asleep. They can turn off this ability if they wish.
Children of Morpheus heal faster while they are asleep and dreaming.
Children of Morpheus are partially conscious while asleep, able to wake themselves up at will.
Children of Morpheus have the ability to send a small wave of energy which will cause anyone affected to fall asleep and enter a vivid dream for a short time; after the effects have worn off, a person is immune to further effects of this for a moderate time. If the user wishes, the wave may just force the target into a vivid daydream for a short time. This will require less energy, but will have the same limitations.
Children of Morpheus have the ability to look into people’s dreams as they sleep and even manipulate them as they wish.
Children of Morpheus are able to astral project, they can use this for multiple reasons, however, their physical body is vulnerable and they can not effect anything on the physical plane while astral projecting.
3 Months After a Character is Made
Children of Morpheus can create dream-like illusions in order to twist other's perception of reality or make everyone around them see something that isn't really there. However, the illusion isn't physical and therefore is only a trick of sight. The bigger the change in perception, the more power drained. They can also confuse single individuals in the same fashion.
6 Months After a Character is Made
Children of Morpheus have the ability to manifest a small shadowy creature to fight alongside them for a short time; the shadow takes the form of whatever a person’s worst nightmare is when they fight it, however, it is smaller in size if the thing from their nightmares is large. They can command the nightmare and can create up to 3 copies of it, it cannot be bigger than 2 to 3 times the size of the user and doesn’t wield any extraordinary abilities. Ex: the nightmare can fly if the target’s nightmare is something winged like a bird. But if it’s a dragon, it may not breathe fire.
9 Months After a Character is Made
Children of Morpheus are able to transform the surrounding area into their own dream-world, an alternate reality fabricated from the user’s dreams. The dream-world will take any appearance the user desires. Anyone within 30 meters of the user will be trapped within the dream world as well. Within it, the user can fly, teleport, are able to create psychic constructs and are immune to all attacks. They’re also aware of everything happening there. After a short time, the dream-world reverts to a normal environment and the user is left incredibly drained. The user will not be able to move and could possibly faint.
Children of Morpheus are normally well adept at interpreting the dreams of others.
Children of Morpheus often tend to be daydreamers, with their heads always in the “clouds”.
Children of Morpheus typically love dreaming, able to master the concept of “lucid dreaming” at a young age.
Children of Morpheus sometimes accidentally enter other people’s dreams when sleeping.
