So, we've talked a lot lately about images, and had two votes, and I've been thinking, periodically throughout the last 2 1/2 years (nearly 3), as we've pretty much had image voting since the first month the wiki began, every so often it comes up and is mentioned that at some point enough time has passed that perhaps old votes may no longer represent majority of the wiki, as many of the users who voted are gone or inactive. In fact I believe if you go back to votes in 2011, some votes back then passed with as few as 5 to 7 users voting, whereas now we have the 12 votes minimum with a margin of 3 policy.
Now in some cases a model might have become more famous, movies came out, they got better rolls, became more world wide noticeable to our users here. And in other cases they have have gone into obscurity a bit over a few years, more younger users come to the wiki, if an actor doesn't do much in a few years, especially movies that appeal to our user base, then perhaps less will know them. As what happened with 2 re-votes we allowed in the past, users changed, time passed, and far less recognised the two actors.
In the past a few votes have gone back up by request, but we've never had an official stance on any of this. I mean it hardly seems fair to allow people to re-vote for a model they wish to use that was once previously deleted, but what about a model someone is already using that 2 years ago was voted to keep but the user base has now changed and suddenly loads recognise them.
Here are the options I propose, if you don't like any or are confused about something, please ask in comments before voting, only vote if you understand and have a position on the topic.
No re-votes ever, if a vote happened in 2011, it should remain the reflection of the wiki and continue to either be allowed or not allowed regardless of who the users were, how much time passed, etc.
Option 2 - One Time Fix (+0)
This wouldn't change anything for the future, only go back to any votes that happened prior to the minimum requirements of 12 users voting and having a margin of at least 3 between the two outcomes (as some votes in the past only had 5 to 7 users vote when it was passed which hardly recognises a decent portion of our user base). This would change nothing for future votes, re-votes would never be allowed.
Option 3 - Change/One Year (+13)
Not only would we go back and make sure all past votes adhere to the 12 user/3 margin policy, we would also allow re-votes on anything that is older than one year if someone requests it.
