Okay, we've had Phobos and Deimos apart of the cabin set for a long while. They're practically identical, and it seems silly having two different cabins with almost the same powers, granted there are other cases of power overlaps and similarities in other cabins, but none to this extreme. So, we propose that they be combined, not 2 gods one cabin, but to literally pick one. For instance, if we choose Deimos, anyone with a child of Phobos will simply switch to Deimos. As they are both male gods, and both have to do with fear, it should change nothing of significance in the histories of the character's in question. So, the options are:
I feel as though since Phobos has always been more prominent and all-encompassing than his brother Deimos (at least in the myths), and Deimos as a character was never really mentioned, Phobos should be preserved. However, if Deimos wins, it wouldn't matter much, as long as one is removed.
Also, the name Phobos is more famous, at least I think so. Queen.Bee♛ 03:28, September 28, 2012 (UTC)
Linguistically speaking, Phobos is indeed more famous since his name and the Greek word for fear are the root of the modern suffix "-phobia". However, I personally feel that Demios' embodiment of fear pertains better to the wiki and its environment. Demios relates specifically to combat related fear, and the chaos of the battlefield. Since we do so much fighting here, to me, it only makes sense to pick Demios. Of course, though, a vote is a vote.
I mean, I guess I voted for Phobos but why change it now? It just gets thing tangled up and confusing since new users could come on, go to a random ex-Phobos/Deimos page, and see that the character says that they're a child of Phobos/Deimos when theyre now the opposite. I just think it makes it way more confusing if we change it. Mr.MikachuTalk that Talk 05:33, September 28, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, vote as you want. I'm just stating my point. Also, I assume that such pages would be altered accordingly. There're plenty of other things that I think could confuse new users more. Flamefang (talk) 06:09, September 28, 2012 (UTC)
I tend to disagree with you. The fact that Deimos is the fear specifically in battle only draws him closer to an Athena, Ares and Eris overlap, and limits the powers that can be granted.
By the way, will this result in a new cabin taking the place of Phobos/Deimos?
Actually Phobos is Battle fear, Deimos is fear and terror "DEIMOS (or Deimus) was the god (daimon) of fear, dread and terror, and his twin-brother PHOBOS (Phobus) of panic fear, flight and battlefield rout. " But the way we did it on the wiki, Deimos is terror, and Phobos is fear, which is wrong technically speaking.
@Del, if so, in my opinion, it will be Hesykhia's Cabin (by Owlz). Even though I have a Deimos child, I find Phobos to be better. I don't know why. I'm being hypocritical. Anyway, whatever happens, I'm up for it since they almost have the same powers.
Due to the light shed on the situation by Bach, I will be transferring my vote to Deimos, and encourage you all to do the same, as prominence is easily overturned by the all-encompassing nature of Deimos' sphere of power.
I believe the mistake with the spheres of power was caused by heavy influence of God of War.
