Index > Issues to be Voted on by Level 5's and up > Level 5's and Up/Phorkys Powers

Hello there! So recently I wanted to make a child of Phorkys, but I noticed there's no preexisting power set, so I made one.

Phorkys is the ancient sea god of the hidden dangers of the deep. I used a most of the Poseidon passives and then reworked some of the Amphitrite powers, while trying to focus on the sea creature aspect/ deep sea creatures. Hope you all enjoy!

Offensive

  1. Children of Phorkys can grow spikes from their spine that have venom like that of the scorpionfish, and shoot out these spikes. Depending on how venomous these spikes are made, they can have the power of slowly numbing a limb or causing someone to slowly go into shock. The drawback is that, because they come from their spines, aim is difficult.
  2. Children of Phorkys can trap people underwater by exaggerating the surface tension of the water, making it near impossible for someone to break through. They can only do this for about thirty seconds at a time.

Defensive

  1. Children of Phorkys can generate an extra layer of blubber around them to soften blows and protect their main internal organs from deep cuts. This can also be used to keep warm.
  2. Children of Phorkys use bioluminescence to achieve crypsis using counter illumination, essentially making them harder to detect underwater. This extends partially to hiding from monsters.

Passive

  1. Children of Phorkys can breathe, are swifter and more powerful, and can heal slightly faster while underwater, and overall require less oxygen to survive.
  2. Children of Phorkys can keep themselves and everything they touch dry in the water, unless they choose to become wet.
  3. Children of Phorkys can survive falling from any altitude as long as they land in water, and can go as deep into the ocean as they desire without any effects from the cold or water pressure.
  4. Children of Phorkys have a natural aura of danger around them, making those in their presence immediately wary and hesitant. If the user focuses, they can tone down the aura.
  5. Children of Phorkys typically have a natural disfigurement that can make them put off putting. This disfigurement can be things such as webbed feet, a claw instead of a hand, a forked tongue, etc.

Supplementary

  1. Children of Phorkys are able to telekinetically move water at a high rate. The larger amount of water used, the more energy it drains.
  2. Children of Phorkys have the ability to turn themselves into human sized versions of deep sea creatures.
  3. Children of Phorkys can create an area around themselves that inflicts others with intense seasickness, making them dizzy and nauseous for as long as they remain inside. The user must keep their focus on maintaining the effect for the duration

3 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Phorkys are able to pressurize their surroundings and cause oxygen toxicity, making it feel as if someone were in a much lower altitude, and as if they were in the deep sea. Anyone in the surrounding area will become sluggish and struggle to breathe, possibly hallucinating of sea monsters. The user is immune but allies are not.

6 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Phorkys are able to summon all liquid in their surrounding 100 ft and flood an area with water, or surround themselves with water. When expelling this water from the surroundings, it can create small but impactful waves that roll away from their person. They are able to use any of their other powers while doing this.

9 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Phorkys can transform themselves into a large dangerous sea creature, such as a sea serpent, kraken, giant crab, or drakon. The sea creature they turn into will be about two or three times their body size, and have mostly impenetrable skin besides a designated part of their body (i.e. a soft underbelly for serpents or giant crab, sensitive parts of its mouth for a kraken). When in this form, they cannot access any of their other powers, and if in this form for too long of a time, will permanently become a monster, and cannot become a demigod again unless aided by a god. Once they shift back into their demigod form, they will be extremely exhausted, and could potentially faint.

Traits

  1. Children of Phorkys prefer areas of lower altitudes .
  2. Children of Phorkys tend to attract slightly less monsters, especially those of the water.
  3. Children of Phorkys are fairly adept at navigating through the Sea of Monsters.
  4. Children of Phorkys are happiest in the water.
  5. Children of Phorkys may feel some sympathy for monsters.
  6. Children of Phorkys don't typically fear things easily.

Ayy, giant enemy crab! Canon uses the Phorcys spelling - he's the crab dude at the Georgia Aquarium in Mark of Athena.

But if you can fool them, even for a second...  The world is simple, miserable, solid all the way through.

I can use that spelling for the template. I mainly went with this one since Phorcys was the Latin translation
