Before an entire revamp of powers took place, one of our former administrators pitched an idea for new weapon materials in order to balance the weaker godparents with the stronger ones. Despite the good intention of the proposal, very little people actually took note of the new metals other than the proposer himself. Now that the powers of the cabins are balanced, the need for the metals has vanished. Additionally, the weapon materials do not cover all spheres of power and regions of the gods. This, unlike before, creates an imbalance between godparents. In order to make this fair, the fate of the metals will be put up for a vote.
We will return to canon, the new weapon materials pitched removed entirely. All characters will be allowed to use Celestial Bronze. The children of the chthonic gods will no longer be allowed to use stygian iron. Silver will be available for use, and given to the hunters of Artemis by default. Imperial Gold, however, will not be available for use, just as before.
The new materials will stay. However, they will be encouraged into use and a reform will occur in order to make sure that all godparents are given a compatible and balanced new weapon material. This gives the administration team a new project to work on, inventing additional materials at the need for new godparents.
Things are left entirely the way they are, only the assigned godparents will wield their special assigned metals and the other godparents will be left as they are.
I personally feel that option one is the best, for it allows us to stick to canon and remove a system that was largely left out of use. I also feel that there is no need to create new metals as laid out in option two, as the powers given are enough for creative fighting.
Before I vote, there's one thing I want to be sure of. Did the reform take the metals into consideration? I realize that you imply that they didn't, but some actual confirmation of that would be great. On a side note, I wonder if these could somehow be worked into an aspect of the new currency system, but that's a conversation for another time.
but everyone could always use CB, even with the new metals, that never changed, and it wasn't just cuz of the powers in general, it was also because there were a few cabins that not only get to use CB but they get to use Stygian iron, so part of the balance issue was there as well, and that is canon.
I'd also like to add, though none of my character's have ever used any of the special metals, mine always just use/used CB no matter what the choices were, but on a wiki whose activity is dwindling, users leaving, users going less active, I'm not sure how much I want to take away something we allowed just for the sake of taking it away when it's not really causing any problems either. "ooo shiny toy......nvm no shiny toy....ooo shiny toy....nvm no shiny toy".
I never said that Celestial Bronze wasn't available for wide use by everyone. I personally think that if it's not in use, and if used it creates an imbalance, it should be removed. If not removed, despite not being in use, then there's still the balance issue, which is why Option Two is there. I feel that option two would convey an unnecessary amount of work for the administration, as there are already plenty of powers for one to use. I don't feel like it would be right to just keep an imbalanced feature, either, so I vouch for option one...
Then how come some of the most OP cabins still, have the added advantage of stygian iron, I mean the power revamp only helped so much, and that still gives, what 2 or 3 already really powerful cabins an edge
i think bach's point is even if you vote for option one and return to canon, there's still the problem of imalance because a few of the larger and more OP cabins, like Hades, then have the advantage over other cabins with Stygian Iron
